Company Info
AGL is best known as being an energy retailer, but it has also taken a hands-on (and sometimes combative) approach to solar. The company is a gentailer, meaning it generates electricity as well as selling it. AGL's generation and storage portfolio consists of coal and gas-fired plants, renewable energy sources such as wind, hydro and solar, batteries and related technologies, and gas production and storage assets.
These days it offers home solar and battery packages using components from various brands, and represented as such - and even offers a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). But quite some time ago, AGL associated its name with a line of solar inverters for residential applications. Like many entities that rebadged inverters in those days, that didn't go on for too long.
"AGL" Eko Inverters
In 2012, Australia's Clean Energy Council approved a series of solar inverters where the manufacturer/licensee was noted as AGL. But AGL didn't manufacture these devices - they were produced by Chinese company Solis.
These AGL Eko inverters were in capacities of 1kW, 1.5kW, 2kW, 3kW, 4kW and 4.6kW. The CEC listing approval year was 2012 and expiry was in 2017 - but we don't think AGL offered them up right up to the end of their certification. Scouring the web doesn't reveal much more about these devices.
Warranty Details
AGL's Eko inverters were covered by an 8-year warranty, pretty good for its time. But as such, it's unlikely any of these units are still under warranty and they would not be worth repairing.
If your AGL Eko inverter is showing its age, pick up some advice on choosing a good inverter to replace it.
