Finn's Afore New Energy Technology Shanghai Inverters Review & Verdict
Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO
Afore has been on the Australian solar scene for quite a while. They offer comparatively cheap inverters, but we've had some mixed reviews over the years regarding quality and support. An inverter being the real workhorse of a system, it's not something you should cut corners on.
Afore inverters also have a relatively short warranty of just 5 years. Most of the inverter brands I recommend – even the budget brands – now offer 10 years.

Company Info
Early on in its history, Afore launched its first-generation PV string inverter, which had the distinction of being used in the first residential PV project in Shanghai. By 2014, Afore's annual production capacity reached 1 GW, and the company had already started exporting products into Australia.
In 2015, Afore released lightweight three-phase PV string inverters followed by higher power single-phase PV string inverters the following year. By the end of 2017, the firm had introduced string inverters up to 60kW in capacity and in 2018, its first hybrid inverters were unveiled.
Details of the company's activities and growth since are scant, but obviously Afore has continued to power on.
Afore Inverters In Australia
The following are inverters that were approved by the Clean Energy Council as at late 2024; meaning they are eligible for Australia's solar rebate.
HNS Series
Available in 3 - 10 kW capacities, all models have anodised aluminium unibody housings. They can operate in an ambient temperature range of -25 to 60C, have a maximum efficiency of 98.20% and dual MPPTs. The HNS3000-6000TL 3 - 6kW range have dimensions of 358mm x 360mm x142mm and weigh 10 kg. The HNS7000-10000TL range incorporates inverters with 7 - 10kW capacity. These are slightly larger - up to 370 x 535 x 192mm and quite a bit heavier at 17 - 18kg
AF Hybrid Inverters
Afore AF low voltage series hybrid inverters are available in 4kW to 6kW. The UPS function (switch time < 10ms) enables crucial loads to remain on during outages. Under the backup operation mode, the inverter provides up to 150% peak output overloading. They offer 97.6% efficiency, an operating temperature range of -25C to +60C, measure 370 x 535 x 192mm and weigh 20.5 kilograms. Cooling is provided by what Afore calls an "intelligent fan".
The AF low voltage series storage inverters can be integrated with Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI - optional) and rapid shutdown.
All Afore inverters offer the firm's "smart" monitoring system
Warranty Information
Afore's standard factory warranty is for 5 years from the date of installation, and no more than 5 and a half years from the delivery date from the company. Where an inverter has been replaced or repaired, any remaining warranty entitlement will be transferred to the replacement or repaired device.
