Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO

Alpha Technologies’ inverters are geared towards telecom applications – and as such, there are probably more suitable products from other companies that specialise in residential off-grid applications such as Selectronic and Victron.

This isn’t to say Alpha Technologies gear isn’t any good (I honestly don’t know), but it’s just a case of horses for courses.

Over the decades Alpha Technologies has acquired a number of other firms associated with power technologies and today it offers a broad range of related products, services, software and consulting.

Alpha Technologies gear is widely used in cable television, communications and data networks worldwide. While its inverters that can be paired with solar are mainly used in telecom type applications, we guess there's some application for residential off-grid scenarios.

Quite a good online monitoring package. Started out with glitches but with tweaks by installer now works as designed.

Always going into fault every 6 to 8 weeks. Was taking about 2 weeks of calls, complaints etc to get action from Alpha. Even contacted the original installer and they have given up... Solar Power Nation are the seller/supplier and my latest fault am now getting automated emails saying this is in process with a no reply address...
