Calculate how solar export charges would affect you

How it works

NSW electricity networks, Ausgrid and Endeavour are introducing new, opt-in*, two-way solar tariffs. These companies, called DNSPs, are not electricity retailers, but charge electricity retailers (like AGL, Origin etc) to use their network. If the retailers choose to pass on these charges to you, this calculator shows the impact it will have on your bills.

Impact on your existing feed in tariff (FiT)

Ausgrid's Two-Way Solar Tariff:

  • 10am to 3pm = FiT reduced by 1.2c / kWh **
  • 4pm to 9pm = FiT increased by 2.3c / kWh

Endeavour's Two-Way Solar Tariff:

  • 10am to 2pm = FiT reduced by 1.75c / kWh ***
  • 4pm to 8pm
    • FiT increased by 11c / kWh (November to March)
    • FiT increased by 3.3c / kWh (April to October)

If you are not in the Ausgrid or Endeavour network area, we'll still show you what the impact would be, to help understand potential impacts if/when this rolls out across Australia.

* From July 2025 the two-way tariff will apply to all Ausgrid customers
** After the charge-free monthly export threshold of 192 kWh - 212 kWh, depending on the month.
*** After the charge-free daily export threshold of 8 kWh.

The two-way tariff applies to you

You are in an area where your network applies a two-way tariff

The two-way tariff does not applies to you

While you can still use this calculator to simulate the impact the tariff would cause on your bills, this won't apply to you at the moment.

Why we need your postcode

The two-way tariff only applies if you are in an "export charge" DNSP area. We use your postcode to check this. But, for shits and giggles, will still show you the results if you are outside the Ausgrid or Endeavour area.

Why do we need this

Your NEM12 file contains all your grid usage and export data. We need this to calculate how much energy you export into the grid per time of the day, so we can precisely estimate the impact of the new two-way tariff based on your historical export data.

How do I get an NEM12 File?

If you have solar, you have a smart meter. If you have a smart meter, you can usually download its data from a web portal. Click here to see how to get your smart meter data.

You'll get it as a .csv file. That's the file to upload here.

Why should I enter my feed-in tariff

We don't need your FiT but entering it will give you more detailed results.
