Can You Get A Good Deal From A Solar Doorknocker?

I just got off the phone with “John”, who had been quoted a solar system by a door-to-door salesman, and wanted my advice on whether it was a good deal or not.

I didn’t need to ask them what they had been quoted – because after 8 years in the solar quoting business, I’ve yet to see even one person get quoted a good solar power system for a fair price from a doorknocker.

But, just in case I was wrong (hey, it does happen from time to time!), I asked them what they’d been quoted, and for what price.

The answer that they gave me – a $10,000 quote for a system that I wouldn’t pay more than $4,000 for – confirmed my suspicions.

Of course, the doorknocker told them that it was a very high quality system, German made, all the talking points that they know will resonate with the average Aussie who just doesn’t know that much about solar (and why should they?)

These type of inquiries come in week after week, year after year. And it pains me to think that for every customer who finds my website in time for me to steer them away from a bad solar deal, there are 10 more who don’t come to me for advice and end up with a subpar solar system.
