Global Solar Energy was founded in 1996, and in the following years has increased its production capacity thanks to the launch of new plants in Arizona (that can produce up to 40 MW ) and Germany (that can produce up to 35 MW). Global Solar Energy’s parent’s company is Solon SE, a Germany-based solar company operating mostly in Europe and the United States with a growing presence here in Australia thanks to the partnership with Bright Generation.

Global Solar Energy specializes in the manufacturing of CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) solar cells, ranging from 82 to 300 Wp, and that can achieve an efficiency of up to 19.9 %. The production of these solar arrays is coupled with the manufacturing of thin-film solar cells. Global Solar Energy also focuses on the development of portable solar solutions, mostly chargers, that can be used in any weather condition and prove suitable for a wide range of uses such as military, recreation, outdoor and consumer electronics.
