Michael's CNPV Dongying Photovoltaic Power Company Panels Review & Verdict
Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.
CNPV was yet another Chinese company to tackle Australia's solar market, and yet another that disappeared from it (and from elsewhere). They manufactured budget panels that didn't feature anything particularly exciting aside from the lower price.

About CNPV Dongying Photovoltaic Power Company
China's CNPV Dongying Solar Power Co., Ltd. (or just CNPV) was founded in 2006 and manufactured ingots, wafers and modules.
The company worked jointly with Xi'an Jiaotong University and ShanDong University of Science and Technology to develop its own technology. The company expected to reach an annual production capacity of 600MW of modules by 2011. Whether it ever achieved this is unknown as CNPV didn't bother updating its "about" page right up until the firm disappeared sometime in 2018.
CNPV Solar Panels In Australia
When its modules were available here, they were offered in capacities of 170W to 310W and were monocrystalline. Back in 2011, CNPV formed a partnership with local renewable energy developer MPower to supply 30MWp of CNPV modules - a significant amount for the time. This probably marked CNPV's arrival in Australia and distribution of its panels for residential installations through local companies. CNPV never had an office in Australia.
In 2014, the company was also mentioned (among quite a few other panel manufacturers) in an application for the publication of dumping and/or countervailing duty notices after a kafuffle over cheap Chinese imports into Australia. Thankfully, those duties were never put in place, which would have had a significant impact on home solar uptake.
While CNPV lasted until 2018, it's not clear if the company exited the Australian market earlier, or when the last CNPV solar panels were struck from the Clean Energy Council's approved modules list.
Warranty Information
The product warranty period for CNPV solar panels was 10 years from the date of delivery. The performance warranty was for 25 years. This means any modules installed in Australia would still be covered by at least the latter.
But having warranty coverage and making a succesful claim can be entirely different beast when a company disappears. Your best course of action is to contact the company that installed the panels as they also have responsibility for warranty claims.
