Finn's Astronergy Panels Review & Verdict
Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO
Astronergy solar panels have been available for home installations in Australia for a few years now and are priced firmly at the budget end of the market. While they've done well consistently in some third-party testing overseas, I'm struggling to get enthusiasm from installers I trust about their performance or Australian support.
The way I see it, Australia is awash with budget Chinese panel brands, so if you're in the market for good, cheap solar, go for a brand like Jinko or Trina that's been in Australia for ages and has proven local support over the many ups and downs of the Aussie solar industry.
Astronergy Panels: Pros & Cons
- Well-established company
- Long product and performance warranty
- Performed well in third-party testing
- Competitively priced
- Little feedback from local installers we trust

Founded in 2006, CHINT Solar has grown into a significant player in solar panel production. It has seven manufacturing facilities across China and another in Thailand, and has 13,000+ employees. The firm had shipped more than 100GW of Astronergy module capacity as at May 2024.
The Astronergy brand entered the Australian market around 2012. As well as catering to the local residential and commercial market these days, Astronergy panels have been used in several large-scale solar farms here.
Astronergy solar panels have attracted positive industry attention, including being named a Kiwa PVEL "TOP Performer" for 8 years and the firm was recognised as the “2024 Overall Highest Achiever” in the PV Module Index by the Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC).
Astronergy Solar Panels - Astro N7s
CHINT Solar has made dozens of Astronergy models available here, but a couple of variants from the current Astro N7s series appear to be the most suitable for home solar installations.
Manufactured either in China or Thailand, the double-glass CHSM54RNs(DG)/F-HC monofacial series is available in 440 Watt and 445 Watt modules. Featuring 108 n-type cells, the N7s offers 22% and 22.3% maximum module efficiency respectively in a solar panel that measures 1762 x 1134 x 30 mm and weighs 21.5 kilograms. The temperature coefficient of these N7s modules is -0.29%/°C, which is pretty good for a budget panel
While we don't have N7s Astronergy panels yet listed, you can compare specifications with other brands on our solar panel comparison table.
Warranty Information
The Astro N7s is accompanied by a 30 year warranty and 30-year performance warranty. Astronergy's performance warranty allows for ≤ 1.0% degradation in the first year and ≤ 0.4% in years 2 - 30.
