Commercial solar PV is continuing to gain momentum – and the latest industry data can prove it.
Or so says Nigel Morris, founder of Solar Business Services, who claimed on his website that the sector has overcome a slow start and is beginning to show real strength.
Nigel, who was taking a break from berating solar power opponents, was keen to highlight the improved performance seen during the last few years.
"Commercial PV hasn't taken off in Australia at the rate anyone hoped quite yet although [it is] growing rapidly," he commented.
Morris recently presented at the first event in the Getting Commercial PV Right series, run by EcoGen and sponsored by SI Clean Energy, which provides help and advice for businesses looking to operate in the industry.
And he noted that Solar Business Services' latest update to its Australia PV – Commercial Market Forecast 2011-16 report has the evidence to support his remarks that large-scale solar is on the rise.
According to the publication, Australia's situation is fairly unique (compared with the US and Europe) in that it must develop its projects without subsidies.
However, despite this, the stats predicted more than half of the country's capacity will be from this segment by 2016.
"The opportunities in Commercial PV in Australia are exploding after many decades of dormancy," the report stated.
