We all like to find ourselves with more money in our pockets, and small businesses could benefit in light of measures unveiled in the Federal Budget.
Imagine if, as a small business owner, you could write off some of your assets under the value of $6,500…well imagine no more, as Treasurer Wayne Swan has waved his magic wand and made it happen.
The good news is that this scheme includes solar power systems and will come into force at the start of the next tax year.
Businesses already have plenty of reasons for switching to solar electricity, with lower bills and a smaller carbon footprint being the most obvious.
However, this Budget announcement should improve the uptake of solar panels even further, not least because of the savings they can bring to operating expenses.
There is also the matter of consumer perception to consider – if you are shown to be doing your bit for the environment, your customers can't help but be impressed…right?
It would seem that us eco-friendly folk may have something to be thankful for with this latest Budget – let's just hope the streak of good luck continues!
