You've probably heard a lot about solar panels over recent months, but thankfully it seems our patience is paying off as Australia is considered a major player in the industry.
Well, this is at least the opinion of John Grimes, chief executive of the Australian Solar Energy Society (who we can suppose might be a little bit biased!)
Speaking at the Solar Utilization Convention and Exhibition in Shandong Province in China, he revealed that more than 500,000 of us have installed solar power systems.
"We are one of the major markets for solar energy in the Asia-Pacific region which will account for around one-quarter of global solar PV demand by 2015," John told delegates.
But as with any quest, our efforts shouldn't stop there – after all, there is still some way to go before solar electricity dominates our vast country.
As John suggests, Australia is in the perfect place both economically and geographically to take advantage of a solar boom and we're currently waiting on the sidelines for that to happen.
When that day comes, we may all find ourselves becoming solar converts – well, there are worse trends to follow.
