Michael's Solatra Inverters Review & Verdict
Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.
Solatra was an inverter brand available in Australia for only a couple of years in the early 2010's. They weren't sold anywhere else so far as we can tell, and chances are these were rebadged units - and reportedly rather crap ones at that.

About Solatra
Solatra solar inverters were installed in Australia from around 2011, but the brand had disappeared from the Australian scene by the end of 2013. There's not even an archived version of the Solatra web site available. If not for a couple of forum discussions and references to old CEC listings (and this page), it would seem like the brand never existed.
The Solatra SLT-2100TL was a 2.1kW inverter with a single MPPT and claimed efficiency of 97%. This unit was IP65 rated (suitable for outdoor installation), measured 590 x 360 x 313 mm and weighed 15 kg.
While offering comprehensive data logging that could be be read off the LCD along with figures for instantaneous power and kWh generated for the current day, it was reported that the display DC values were often incorrect. This was fixed by Solatra with a firmware update, but a year or so later the company disappeared.
The warranty on Solatra inverters was reportedly 5 years. But it doesn't matter how long a warranty is if the company isn't around to honour it. While warranty responsibility also falls to the importer and installer, it can be a nightmare to chase up a claim when the manufacturer disappears.
An inverter is a crucial part of a solar power system, so choose an inverter brand carefully before parting with your cash.
