Finn's Shenzhen Kstar New Energy Company Limited Inverters Review & Verdict

Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO

When Kstar's string inverters were originally approved for use in Australia, they didn't appear to have much impact here, and we don't have a lot of info on them. Somewhat encouraging is that the company still lists an Australian office, which should mean Australian owners can continue to get local technical and warranty support if their installer has disappeared.

Shenzhen Kstar New Energy Company Limited Inverters: Pros & Cons

Company Info

Kstar was founded in 1993, originally producing UPS devices, and remains one of the world's major players in that field. But it also manufactures other equipment including data center air conditioners, micro data centers and PV and energy storage solutions.

It entered the new energy arena in 2009 with the opening of its industrial park in Zhonkai, Huizhou. The firm has a workforce of nearly 4,200 employees and seven manufacturing facilities; all of which are in China except for one in Vietnam.

Kstar's Sydney office was established in 2016, covering sales, technical support, projects and after-sale service. The company once had an Australian website, but it looks like that went off-the-air sometime in 2022.

Kstar Inverters In Australia

Kstar’s production of solar inverters started in 2009. Some years ago, their range of solutions available in Australia included single-phase inverters with capacities spanning from 1.5kW up to 5kW (in the KSG and KSG SD series), three-phase inverters (in the KSG TM series) from 10kW to 50kW, and three-phase inverters (in the GSL series) with capacities ranging between 50kW and 1260kW.

As at January 2025, the only inverters suitable for residential applications approved by the CEC for use in Australia are BluE-S 3680D and BluE-S 5000D, both of which are hybrid inverters and form part of Kstar's BluE all-in-one energy storage solution (so, inverter + battery).

Warranty Information

Kstar offers a 10-year warranty on their KSG inverters. If you're having problems with your Kstar KSG, the first party you should contact is your installer. If that isn't successful, try reaching out to the company using the details above.

If you bought a Kstar solar inverter in the past, feel free to leave a rating and/or review to share your experience with us and other Australians.
