Company Info
LG's association with energy storage began in 1992 when it began lithium-ion battery research. LG Energy Solution, which focuses on storage was established in 2020; splitting off from LG Chem.
LGES-5048 Hybrid Inverter
In 2021, LG Energy Solution unveiled its first (and still only) hybrid inverter - the LGES-5048, which is very similar in appearance to Goodwe's GW5048D-ES unit. Even the LG monitoring portal looks like a re-skinned version of GoodWe's.
The LGES-5048 has a nominal AC output power of 5kW on-grid and in a backup scenario, 4.6kW. Automatic switchover time is 10 ms. The LGES-5048 has two MPPTs, weighs 30 kilograms and measures 516 x 440 x 184mm. The LGES-5048 is compatible with RESU 6.5, 10, 12, 13 LG home batteries.
Warranty Information
LGES-5048 is accompanied by a 10-year warranty, but any LG accessories such as an antenna, WiFi kit or CT only have a 2 year warranty. The 10-year warranty is contingent on the inverter being connected to the Internet. If it isn't, LG may not honour the full warranty period, but will provide coverage for at least 5 years. In the case of a warranty claim, LG Energy Solution can opt to repair or replace a defective product.
