About
The Yarra Solar Story
Hi, I’m Michael Stewart,
I’d like to tell you a story of how I came to amass huge amounts of experience installing many of Australia’s largest, most sophisticated, and most complex installations, and how this will now deliver you the best outcome for your home and/or business.
After managing a few thousand residential installations, I started tackling commercial installations. Because the customer is investing so much money, commercial customers that are finicky, demanding, and expect the most from the system and its installer – so getting an outstanding reputation as a commercial solar installer was an accomplishment that I’m quite pleased about.
Unfortunately, I’ve lost count of the times I’ve seen shoddy work on people’s homes (fixing other companies’ mistakes actually keeps me quite busy). You just can’t get away with that on commercial jobs… and personally I take great pride in my workmanship. I also saw how often systems were sold that weren’t ideal for the customer’s needs – far too often serving the interests of the salesperson rather than the homeowner.
I started Yarra Solar because I wanted to deliver a better outcome to prospective solar homeowners in my community. Now that I’ve got a young child, I wanted to stop criss-crossing the country, and focus my attention more locally. I want to make a lasting difference locally, to the environment, and to your electricity bill.
I named the company Yarra Solar, because it evokes the timeless nature of Melbourne’s major artery. The Yarra River flows from the Yarra Ranges, right past my doorstep (Warrandyte), through into the city, and in doing so it connects all Melbournians. Our logo flows on a similar journey to the Yarra River – winding its way from the outer regions through to the heart, and encompassing all of Melbourne in the process
I hope to have the opportunity to meet you, and discuss how was can deliver you a lasting saving off your electricity bill and make a lasting difference to our local and global environment.

Excellent Solution, Service & Installation
Having just commenced the Solar journey, we had lots of questions and queries for Michael before we signed off on the final design. We live in a power hungry home - pool / spa, water feature, large ducted air con, multiple fridges etc so we took the Solar Quotes advice to install a large panel system to provide options for the future i.e. Battery installation, Electric Vehicle option etc. Panel choice was Hyundai and we installed 55 panels for a 22kW system. The roof is essentially unshaded and we positioned 33 panels to face North and 22 panels to face East / West. In late August we were solar self sufficient by around 9:30am on a sunny day. A Fronius 20kW inverter was installed in the garage. Michael was very patient as we worked through the options and very helpful in identifying value for money products. The installation was done quickly and everything was left neat and tidy. Michael completed all the paperwork for the grid connection and Certificate of Electrical Safety, as well as assisting with the Fronius registration and downloading computer and phone software.6 months later we asked Roger: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
We are very happy with our system and our installer. Our large home is power hungry ... pool pumps, solar pump, pool heat pump, water features, multiple fridges, ducted air con etc and our power bills have dropped considerably. The payback on our 22kW system will be less than four years.23 December 2021
Maintenance and system upgrade
We had a technical problem with lightning that blew up a number of modems along our street and the solar installation also stopped working. Michael Stewart from Yarra Solar installed our micro-inverter system in October last year, he has now revised the system to install additional surge protection and worked with Enphase to replace failed components. We're now back up on line. Michael's response has been rapid and has fully solved the problem, leaving us with an upgraded system too. Couldn't be happier with his service.Inverter rating: 5/5

Original Review on 25-11-2020:
Service was slow to install - mainly with government authorities. The install job was very well done and happy with the system.
Solar quotes gave one option for me. This company did not call me. After a weeks, I called the giving them the requirements of the installation of the job.The on the phone quote was close to (in fact a little less) Yarra Solar. Even though it was a little more expensive, I had used this person (Michael Stewart) with an existing system and new the job he would do. For this reason, I went with Yarra Solar.
8 months later we asked Douglas: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
The system has performed to expectations with the Tesla battery exceeding my expectations. After my experience with Natural Solar, I would not go anywhere else for my solar/battery needs. They are people one can trust.
Note: The original "Customer Service" grading refers to Yarra Solar, NOT Natural Solar.
Note also that "Solar Quotes" with Finn Peacock were a vital part in the selection of panels and battery - a valuable service.

All good
Quotes went well. Had 3 quotes: CBR quote from Brenton went very well, efficient, helpful. Had another quote from local recommendation. The 3 Quotes were quite similar. Chose YarraSolar as is very local and had friends’ recommendations.Installation and grid connection all went smoothly.
The chosen quote/installation included Switchboard Upgrade. Original ratings

10 months later we asked Pamela: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
Yes, system seems to meet expectations.A higher “feed in tariff” incentive from electricity provider, to offset rising electricity prices would be beneficial.
Also, incentivising sharing peak solar power production around, re times of use, even if households don’t have a battery.
