Solar companies tend to want to sell you just a solar set-up. It is now more complex, as society moves from fossil fuels to an electricity/hydrogen economy.
Thoughtful discussion of such issues is hard to come by in the industry, and we are fortunate to have access to Stuart Watson through Wauchope Solar, to provide us with the 'bigger picture'. Hopefully, we have a set-up which will morph most easily into providing our future needs as this transition unfolds. We are also finding RenewEconomy and the new Drive newsletter valuable input to defining likely future developments. The Solar Quotes website and Finn's recent book were also good information resources for us. So, thanks to everyone - much appreciated.

Wauchope Solar have been the only supplier to actual visit the site, discuss all the options, and customise the system ( such as noting 3 phase & recommending a 3 phase net inverter, which I believes avoids export limits & may allow faster charging when I get an EV). Only quote that was fully itemised. Local, established business. Surprised they are not on your systemSolaX were not keen to visit on site, then missed the booked appointment & then failed to send any definitive quote or follow up any contact with me. Only do DC optimisers. Would not recommend to others
8 months later we asked Justin: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
yes, better production than anticipated especially as have only had during 2 winter months (mid june to mid aug)05 September 2017

As mentioned on our phone discussion my preference was a local installer who could provide service and back up if necessary. Probably not the cheapest, but met my timetable and general allround requirements. As a matter of information your suggested supplier made no contact with me. Cheers and a happy 2017. We can not rate Wauchope Solar highly enough. Whilst they aren't one of your suppliers (you should chat to them about becoming one!) we used all the info we learned from your site (and via emails with you) to source them. The business owner is a 'solar geek' and not only knows his stuff but is passionate about saving our planet. He was incredibly helpful, genuine and provided a very effective installation service. We are so happy to now be supplying our own power!
Thank you also for the service you guys provide. Your site was the best thing we ever stumbled across - it literally saved us from signing up the first company we got a quote from and buying rubbish! You guys gave us the right questions to ask, warned us about products/salesman/prices to steer clear of and helped us better understand how solar works. Wauchope Solar provides a professional installation at a competitive price and they worked in with my roof restoration.
Wauchope Solar provides a professional installation at a competitive price and they worked in with my roof restoration.I recommend Wauchope solar they had no issues with installing the 8kw system, leaving the Panels off until I had the roof restored and painted. They waited a few weeks to let the paint dry then returned to install the panels and commision the system. I can't really comment on the performance yet still waiting for my provider to install the new Meter.
