Friendly and Professional Solar Installers

First time owner of the solar system, and am glad to be introduced to Variety Solar. With their friendly and attentive staff, provided me professional advice that allows me to decide the best system for my homes.

Installation and commissioning process was done professionally, and the installers took additional effort to tidy up the area and assisted us with addressing minor neighbour complaints on site.

Inquiries about the solar system, installation, commissioning and grid connection were addressed promptly and most of the time able to be resolved fully.

Challenging installation but perseverance and dedication won out (with no extra charges).

The quotations were prompt and follow-up with both parties was efficient. A slightly better knowledge of the preferred battery won the quote for Variety. I think they run on a just in time model so were focused and keen to get payment ASAP.

The installation despite being in rural Victoria was done by the contracted party (not subcontracted) who persevered until the job was completed - working long hours. The site was kept tidy. All the workers were very polite and had time to explain what they were doing (especially the senior installer).

The battery has just been inspected so it's a little early to see how some of our questions about implementation will b e addressed but I am optimistic.

Solar + battery in regional Victoria

I went for the Melbourne-based installer Variety Solar out of 3 quotes recommended by SQ and a fourth from a local firm. The other quotes were all regional installers. Variety Solar offered best value for money and was within our budget. Collecting the quotes was a positive experience as all the installers were ready to discuss my needs and revise their quotes if necessary to meet my preferences.
The installation took a bit longer than expected but this was not the installer's fault - the main delays were caused by a spell of bad weather and a fault in the inverter shipped by Sungrow (which was difficult to detect but an easy fix). The installer's 2.5 hour drive from Melbourne did contribute to the delay. The subcontracted electrician installers were very professional and a pleasure to deal with - responsive to my requests and keeping me up to date as they worked through the installation.
Sam at Variety Solar was excellent as my contact throughout the process - from the quoting through to connection to the grid. He made regular contact to answer my frequent questions and ensure that I was satisfied with the installation.
My initial intention was to select an installer from within my region but I am happy with my cost-based decision to go with a Melbourne-based installer and I would certainly recommend Variety Solar to anyone else.

Professional, knowledgeable and swift

I recently had a solar installation done, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! The entire process was very professional and swift. My main contact, Jordan, was exceptional. He answered all my questions promptly and made sure I felt informed every step of the way.

Joseph, the chief electrician, was also fantastic. He was hands-on throughout the installation and went above and beyond to ensure everything was done correctly. He took the time to explain the expectations and processes to me, which really put my mind at ease.

Overall, I highly recommend this team to anyone considering solar installation. I will definitely be sharing my positive experience with friends and family!

A very satisfied customer

I recently decided to install Enphase IQ 5P batteries to store the excess energy produced by my solar panels. Variety Solar was one of the three companies recommended by SolarQuotes. They were the first company to contact me and the only one that recommended that I enlarge my solar array to get the most out of the batteries. The extra panels and batteries were installed within 5 days from the day I accepted their quote. Vividh Shah and his team organised for all the hardware to be delivered the day after I accepted their quote. Their installer, Jason Costanzo, was onsite the following day. He was very professional and patiently answered all my questions. Jason and Gawishkar did a very neat installation over the next couple of days and tidied up before leaving. The new system was seamlessly integrated into my existing system. I am very grateful for the excellent service and expert advice I received from both Vividh and Jason and would unhesitatingly recommend them to anyone who may be considering installing solar panels and/or batteries.

5 star solar installation! I can't recommend the team at Variety solar highly enough

Jordan from the Variety Solar team really went the extra mile to ensure that he provided us with the best possible solar and battery solution from quote through to install. He thoughtfully took into account all of our requirements which included disconnecting from gas and switching to induction cooking and heat pump hot water as part of the installation. He coordinated everything and provided advice throughout which made our lives easier and meant we were able to take full advantage of our new solar plant right away.

The installation team headed up by Joseph were also great, delivering a really neat and professional job, even the inspector was impressed! Joseph made sure we understood how our new installation works including explaining our new switchboard and helping us to setup the app to track our solar plant.

All in all, a great job guys - we're very happy.

Very happy - additional panels and new first battery

Great support with the offer and sign up. Installation took a little longer than I hoped but the communication was great and I know a lot more about the system because of this. This was an extension to the existing solar with more than doubling of panels and a first battery install. Because of the location I have south and east facing panels now-which yesterday gave more power than the original north and west facing ones.

Happy with overall experience

Jordan was very accomodating and honest with all the questions i have asked, he coordinate things very efficiently even after hours. Jordan have recommended solar panel and inverter which have good performance and value for your money. Have assured me this will be install within two weeks time and they did deliver!!

The sales process provided by Variety Solar was very professional and is within my budget. Installation was then provided by the Positive Sparky team who were on time, polite and friendly, and communicative. My property was left clean and tidy with follow up installation assessment arranged and grid connection organised. The system is now on line and operating really well.

Jordan at Variety Solar was an exceptional Salesperson: he listened to our requirements, sent me off to improve on my own research and explained the benefits of installing a larger battery as well as the Solar Panels, answered all of my questions, explained the whole process and was flexible with taking my return calls and provided multiple quotes, then explained the options clearly so that I was able to choose a system that suited our needs.

The Equipment was delivered efficiently. Joseph and his installation team were exceptional: tidy, punctual and explained everything very clearly and ensured that the Inspection was completed within the 2-week period after installation.

Nice work

Good work. Jordan coordinated the work really well. He was honest which I liked and read the lay of the roof quickly to tell me that all panels can fit in nicely on the northern side.

Great system

Great communication from the office, very thorough supply of information from Jordan, so many options and we are very happy with the solution we settled on, Excellent support from the office during the install, sadly our installer was not reliable in terms of punctuality, and was not a good communicator, a couple of times didn’t turn up as planned, I understand tradies are busy, but he just needed to call.
On the positive side his work quality was impeccable, and of the highest quality. We opted to upgrade our ancient ‘fuse’ board at the same time to have modern safety switches on all circuits. Carried out with no issues.

Very Happy

Throughout the process I asked a lot of questions. All the companies Finn recommended were patient and accommodating when I kept changing the design being quoted.
Ultimately I ended up going for what I thought was the right system at the cheapest price possible.
The system was installed within 1 week of finalising the quote and the installers were fantastic doing such a tidy job. They did end up taking two days to install which was no problem as I was working from home.
The only negative was the specific details of the system design e.g. placement of the inverter and the removal of the old solar panels was not explained to the installers even though they were written on the quote. Thankfully I had this discussion with the installers before any work was started and they put everything where I wanted.
I would definitely recommend Variety Solar as they did a fantastic job. Original ratings

The sales process provided by Variety Solar was very professional with six detailed options designed for my needs provided. Installation was then provided by the Positive Sparky team who were on time, polite and friendly, and communicative. Good install, shame about the customer service!

The initial quote was good and selected them due to the significant cost saving, their assurances that they could do the job at short notice and the good review here and on other sites. The problems started once I had signed-off. Long Delays and after 4 weeks of being told "do not worry" and "ït is coming" but not provided with any timeline on what and when was coming next, I was then rang by what I understood to be the sales manager to explain that they had underquoted and that I would need to have to pay a significant additional amount.

Due to personal time pressures and already wasting a month waiting, I decided to continue with them and to come to an agreement on the additional amount. Then I started seeing a some activity with some guys come by to have a look at the job. A local installer picked up the role and to his credit was able to fit me in at short notice. The equipment arrived and it seemed that the wrong (and cheaper) invertor had been sent. The day of the install, the installation team did work hard and the main electrician was very knowledgeable and looks like he did a good job. Unfortunately a few weeks later, I realised that the apprentice had left a big mess in the roof space with having ripped my roof sarking in a number of places and pulling it away from the roof in others with out patching it, taking me a few hours to patch it all up when discovered.

Another issue was when I wanted to change the Wifi connection point, the team lead would not engage me via a number of emails to assist in proving me with the right authorisation to be able to change WIFI settings. Fortunately, not having paid the invoice till this was resolved helped motivate a response.


Lastly, the invoice arrived soon after the final inspection with Nett30 days on it and from this naturally assumed I had 30 days to pay.... but then started to get hassled to pay immediately.. After the delays experienced at the beginning of the process, I was tempted to delay the payment, but saw no reason to delay once the Wifi issues were dealt with.

Another issue was that during the whole process, people would just turn up or be told they are about to turn-up with the expectation that I would be home. On one occasion where they had to swap out the invertor, I was not home, but fortunately someone was, who could assist.

The upshot is although the installer seems to have done a good job overall (other than the mess left behind in the roof), based on a month of running and from the reports I can see, the front office function should really review their processes and communications and ensure that those providing the quote, are sufficiently trained in provided the right quote first time.

Great outcome

The whole process was very painless. The Variety Solar salesperson listened to what I wanted instead of trying to sell what he thought I wanted! He understood that what he initially proposed (5 options) would need to be confirmed by a site inspection; he arranged for an installation team leader to do the necessary measurements technical checks. This resulted in a much more accurate quote. Because I chose top quality products (thanks Solar Quotes for the reviews) the outcome was not cheap, but met all of my requirements. The installation was also very well handled and utterly professional. The wrong batteries had been delivered which resulted in a delay in finalisation of the installation. Once the correct batteries were delivered, staff arrived within an hour of my notification to finalise everything.

Great customer service, excellent installation

Variety Solar came out slightly ahead of the other recommended installers. They were all very helpful, and very close in their quotes so it came down to very small details. I would recommend them all if I could!
Variety Solar offered a range of different quotes - different value panels and inverters, different sizes - to make it clearer for me to make an informed choice.
They were very helpful with any questions I had, and were able to explain anything that was confusing to me as someone with no knowledge of solar systems.
The installers were excellent. They were happy to explain what they were doing, answer any questions and advise me what would happen after the installation. They were also very clean and tidy leaving no mess behind.

Quick and easy installation

We had taken quotes from 4 different solar providers, and Variety Solar stood out from the start. Jordan was super helpful in helping us understand the ins and outs, and on top the price they offered was much lower to what other vendors had quoted.

Exceptional value and great service

Variety solar beat my cheapest quote and included higher quality Jinko panels. Jordan provided all the info required to make an informed decision and communicated on my terms (mostly via SMS!).

The installers were exceptionally thorough and ensured the install was going to provide the best performance from the solar and battery system.

Didn’t think I’d even be able to afford a battery so am so chuffed with the result. Would highly recommend variety based on my experience.

Seamless Process

From the initial contact from Ekansh and the complete process, this was a seamless installation for my system.

The back office were also great dealing with network providers and my supplier to get me hooked up to the grid the day after install.

Informative Salesperson, Good Installation

Jordan was great explaining all the options - string inverters, optimisers, micro-inverters. Their price was the cheapest of the 3 quotes, and the salesperson seemed the most knowledgeable.
When the delivery was made the micro-inverters were delayed coming from Sydney, so the installers turned up the following day all ready to go and could only get as far as putting the racks on the roof. The inverters arrived two days later.
I had to follow up a couple of times to find out when the installers would come back to finish the job. It was 10 days from their initial visit (no doubt they had a full schedule to juggle). They worked an extremely long day and by the end of it, everything was set up. 3 days later the inspector arrived and we now have a great working system.

Amazing service amazing installation

Ekansh from Variety Solar was amazing as soon as I had a question about the installation or the products he immediately replied even after I’d signed the contract and paid the deposit. He confirmed with me the install would be done the day after settlement of the property and to my surprise they turned up on time and completed it that day

Sam the contractor was amazing and when the Independent electrician attended to sign off on the Job he commented he had seen his work before and it is always top notch which he confirmed after he got down from the roof

Good balance of quality and price

The sales person from Variety was friendly and wasn't pushy like some of the others. He wanted to make sure I had a good understanding of the panels and inverters and was happy to give me a range of options and revisions when I wanted to make changes. Once I had decided to proceed, they were quick to arrange an installation date as soon as the Vic solar rebate was approved. On installation day, the installers were excellent and when there was a small issue with the invoice the customer service people were quick to rectify. There were some unavoidable delays with connection to the grid (this was happening around Christmas/New Year public holidays and on top of that the power distributor in the area had a fault with their web portal) but it went through as soon as possible after this. All up, I had a great experience with Variety and would recommend them to others.

Excellent customer service!

Jordan from Variety Solar Pty Ltd was the only sales agent that made the effort to explain the nuances of having a solar system installed. The first phone consultation was nothing short of educational for me as a customer without any knowledge of brands or specifications to look for. He was also prompt to respond to further inquiries during the entire process.

The installation team was punctual, professional, and accommodating of particular demands we had as far as placement of battery and panels were concerned. They worked hard under the unrelenting heat from 8 am to 4 pm to get both panels and battery working. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this company in the future! A++
