Self Sufficiency

Doing an install for a mostly retired electrical contractor and an ex installer is a tuff gig. I contacted Solar Quotes and Aaron made contact and an appointment very soon after. I had thoughts of micro inverters, optimisers and fronius systems, all with batteries. I wanted a quality and efficient system and in the end I let Aaron choose what would be best.
A month after the system energized, I can reflect good decisions on both the installer and system. Aaron's team of Luke, Calum and Corey were excellent. My wife commented later how they communicated with each other in such a friendly manner.
Ours was not a straight forward install with the main switchboard inside a mud brick house. However it has turned out to be a very neat job. After four weeks we have used just under 2 kwh's. Self sufficiently can be achieved. Great job.

Solar system installation

Quotation
Aaron was able to break down and explain preferred products to me in a quick and simple manner. A proposal was provided to me in a few hours allowing me to make a decision on the same day.

Installation
After accepting the quote, Aaron was able to book the installation a week from our initial phone call (which I was thrilled with). Aaron and his team were very easy to deal with, they arrived on time (7:30 am) and I was told the estimated completion time would be approximately 3 pm. They explained the chances of roof tile damage due to the type of tiles I had but ended up not damaging any. The day also had sporadic rain but the team persisted and completed the install almost 2 hours earlier than expected.

Service
Upon install the team showed me how to run the inverter and the app and spoke to me about what to expect the next couple of days. I did notice that the hole behind the inverter was not sealed with silicon (something to check before the installers leave) however I see this as an easy thing to remedy and does not affect their rating. Aaron organised the inspection of the system of which I was told would be within the next 5-7 business days, however the inspector came the day after install. This meant we had the system operating just over a week after I was provided with a quote (super thrilled about this). Aaron also contacted the energy provider for me and had the excess generated solar being registered by my energy company a week after the installation.
I understand that Aaron is pretty busy, he did not answer a few of my text queries but always picked up my phone calls which was great on his side.

Definitely give the entire experience A+ and would recommend Traeger Solar to anyone else.

Quality install

Aaron was the only person to come to site to review the options. I didn't rush into the process and he was not pushy. We discussed various options and he let me know the pro's and con's.

Was not the cheapest but I got a good sense that they would be a quality installer.

Once I agreed on a solution, his team was available in a couple of weeks but he brought that forward (assuming a cancelation). Installation took a day and half. I couldn't fault the work and they cleaned up after themselves. Team is was friendly and explained how the system works.

Excellent Installers

Aaron was very professional, giving a clear estimate then following up with a site visit and a firm quote. The project went ahead, without a hitch, a couple of weeks later. Luke who led the on-site team ( under Aaron's direct supervision) was very capable, courteous and helpful. He and Aaron were great to deal with every helpful.
I highly recommend them. They installed quickly and professionally, did a fine job and cleaned up carefully, on leaving. I wish everyone I have dealt with in the last 40 yrs was so capable. Thank you, Finn, for referring them.

Excellent and experienced knowledgeable installer, super prompt installation and commissioning

Aaron was terrific throughout the quotation process - punctual to do the site visit, patiently explained the reasons for his recommended layout of the panels and choice of inverter and was very accommodating about the payment terms.

Traeger Solar's quote was the most competitive for exactly the same brand of panels, system size and inverter so given the above, it was an easy choice to make and go with Aaron and his team. And the installation was scheduled within 3 weeks of accepting the quote!!

The day before the scheduled installation date, Aaron and his team turned up to set up the scaffolding, and the following day the job was done by 3pm!!! Luke helped with the Wi-Fi and network setup and patiently talked me through the whole login process and inverter functions. And the place was left neat and tidy.

Incidentally, the Traeger installation team did a great job of tidying up the connection from the inverter to the junction box - the previous solar panel inverter connection was a quick-and easy one by comparison, but I didn't know the difference 16 years back!!!

The inspection and commissioning happened two days later - super fast!! - and so far, touch wood, everything is functioning as promised - and Aaron has been very quick to respond to a few queries that I had in the first few days.

I would highly recommend Aaron and Traeger Solar.

Very neat install

Aaron was very professional, punctual and efficient.

We had a fairly straightforward install on a tin roof with easy access (incredibly poor internal ancess though!) and his crew was finished in under 5 hours.

I really appreciated his attention to detail, including small things like a bit of cardboard under the ladder against the fascia and lining conduit up with screw lines.

I chose Aaron because he is the one that does the quote and the install, he doesn’t subcontract out after winning the job. He took the time to give me advice, and answer my questions

Basically I paid him and we’re connected with solar. He organised everything including notifying our power company. The only thing I had to do separately is apply online for the vic solar rebate.

Great solar system design and customer service

Aaron was the only installer who offered to come to my house to confirm the design of the solar array. By taking actual measurement on my roof he was able to create the best design in terms of panel orientation, as well as maximising the number of panels. By visiting house, we could also discuss the best location of the inverter and Aaron explained to me where the cabling would run.
Aaron was also able to schedule the installation the fastest.
The installation went very smoothly with the team being there on time, very professional, very efficient, keeping me informed of adjustement they had to make along the way.
They helped me get started with the sungrow monitoring application, and explained how to shut down the system while waiting for the independent inspection one week later.
Inspection went very smoothly and the system has been running well ever since.
I will recommend Trager solar to all my friends who are considering starting their solar journey.

Second to none solar installer

I previously engaged Traeger Solar to install a 6.6kW system at my family home - you can see my review from November 2019 here on SolarQuotes. When lightning struck the NBN box in my front yard and took out the network card of the Fronius inverter (amongst other things!), Traeger Solar were happy to assist in arranging assessment and replacement of the damaged parts to get the system back up-and-running.

Since 2019, I have happily recommended Traeger Solar to many friends and family members, as I trust Aaron and his team's high standard of workmanship and after-sales care.

I have just finished building a brand new home in a new estate in Melbourne's outer-eastern suburbs, so it was only natural to reach out to Traeger Solar to fit solar for my new home.

I engaged Aaron early on in my build, ensuring that my home had three-phase power and helping to make it solar-ready right from the frame stage. I also worked closely with my builder to ensure roof penetrations (whirly bird, etc.) were kept out the way of where solar PV panels would be located, so as to allow the maximum number of panels and a good-looking installation.

Being in a leafy area where storm damage can take out the power for several days at a time, I was concerned about losing the contents of my fridge and freezer. Unfortunately, I lack the budget for a solar battery.

Aaron provided me with a quote for three different 12kW system options, and this quote included an option for the Fronius GEN24 Plus inverter, which features the "PV Point": an integrated basic backup power supply (10A/2.2kW) from a socket as long as the sun is shining - even when the grid is down.

This allows me to run an extension cable from my fridge to the PV Point, ensuring my food remains safe whilst also allowing me to boil the kettle or recharge my phone/laptop battery during the day. No solar battery required!!

Installation went super smoothly – Aaron and his team turned up first thing in the morning and were done before 3pm. They were neat, tidy, and cleaned up their mess. All the inverter cables are neatly concealed behind the plaster, so the fit and finish is fantastic. The electrical safety inspection was completed promptly (the inspector noted to me that Traeger Solar's work is consistently excellent), and paperwork was lodged with my retailer for the meter reconfiguration without hassle.

My 12.3kW system has produced as much as 33kWh on a late-May sunny winter's day, and 30.7kWh on the day before the Winter Solstice (shortest day of the year) – very impressive numbers which will only get better in summer time, and already saving me heaps on my electricity bill.

Overall, I am super pleased with Aaron's work and will continue to recommend Traeger Solar to others.

By visiting he was able to assess best panel location after looking at nearby trees, shading, orientation etc. Having been solar converts for some time and “ knowing the ropes” we just went with a larger array of better panels and a new quality inverter to replace our much smaller 15yr old system that was coming off the premium feed in tariff. Other companies quoted using aerial photos and I didn’t like that and I felt like I was dealing with a salesman rather than installer. Aaron helped in facilitating the government rebate process with his digital quoting system and kept me up to date with email and phone.
The installers were polite, neat and efficient and left zero mess. We had to have our switchboard updated in addition and this was organised to be done same day as install. The inspector came the afternoon of install and our system was up and running by the end of the day. All pretty seamless really. One of the fellas also helped me out with another small electrical job after they had finished the install. Thoroughly recommend.

Great experience

Shopping for a solar system is daunting but Solar Quotes provided important information in a very digestible form. The recommendation of Traeger Solar proved to be significant. Aaron is easy and professional to deal with and his team did a great job. Great service and terrific result

It was a delight to work with Aaron in having solar installed. The whole process went both smoothly and quickly. He provided an initial quote and then followed up with a visit to inspect the roof and fine tune the quote and solar system plans. I was particularly pleased that his design put panels across as all three possible aspects of the roof. I'm getting solar power early on the morning to evening which is great.

The installation went smoothly and communication was great throughout regarding replacing roof tiles etc. The team did a great job and were very thorough and tidy throughout the entire process.

The grid connection was organised and the inspector noted that Traegar Solar were known for their reliable installations. The cherry on the top of a great experience. I have already recommended them to friends.

Great solar installation

We have chosen Traeger Solar, in part, based on internet reviews. It turned out to be a great choice.
From quote to installation to follow-up it all went smoothly. On installation day the team arrived on time and completed the job in a few hours. They were clearly experienced, polite and cleaned up at the end of the job. It is now several months since the installation and the system is performing great. Our first electricity bill since the solar system installation has arrived - it was less then $ 30! Based on our experince we would definitely recommend Traeger Solar for a solar system installation

Excellent installer, quick installation, great service

We chose Traeger Solar after recommendation from a friend who had used them, and we were not disappointed. A phone call to Aaron resulted in an appointment a few days later for an inspection of the site on the basis of which, and a review of our past electricity usage, he recommended a system to meet our current and future needs. He fully and clearly explained the type of solar panel and inverter he would use, the installation process and how the rebates worked. The visit was followed soon after with his quote which we found reasonable, so we accepted it. Aaron helped us with the process of obtaining the government rebates and he and his team looked after the grid connection and approvals. The installation was scheduled for early March but we got a call from Aaron that they could come on 5 Feb which suited us. The installation took all day and throughout, Aaron and his team were polite and professional. Any mess was cleared up. The system works beautifully and we are very pleased with it. The only issue we had was using the SolarEdge app for monitoring the production and usage of the solar power, which, for some reason, we weren't receiving the data, but Aaron helped to sort that out. We have no hesitation in recommending Traegar Solar for the installation of a solar energy system.

Easy to deal with

Aaaron visited the property (as opposed to using google maps) which allowed us to discuss options which hadn't been suggested by others.

All aspects of the install were proffesional, tidy, punctual and neatly finished.

The install involved adding panels to an already existing system. This required integrating new and existing hardware and configuring microinverters.

I've had the combined system for 6 months and and had no problems.

From the initial enquiry and first meeting Aaron, I was instantly confident, that we would use Traeger Solar, even before we had received the quote. He was only one of two companies that actually came to inspect our house and although their quotes were not the cheapest we received, I am so glad that we went with one of their options. Installation was completely trouble free and the team of four installers were very professional and worked extremely well, to get the job done. Fantastic experience

After being let down by the previous installer that came through SolarQuotes, Aaron was one of the respondents to our second attempt to get quotes. Impressed with performance 5.5 months on, no issues, perfect install.

I spent 3 months talking to 9 installers trying to work out what I really wanted and what I needed to pay to achieve it.

I settled on a system that provided best performance for shade, lower voltage and relabilituy that comes from enphase microinverters and a mid priced solar panel (in particular jinko all black 415watt panels, 28 in all).

A number of installers were just trying to push overpriced panels or expensive installs, or were just plainly inflexible.

I targeted a 8-12 year Return on Investment, not a 12-20 year Return on Investment. I just could not justify an extra eight to twelve thousand dollars for the same size system

I've seen a number of failed string systems over the years with family and friends and going down that track is just false economy in my opinion. I wanted a system to last at least 15 years and no burn out in 7 or 8.

Aaron made the effort to come out on site promptly and listened to exactly what I wanted and where I wanted everything placed from a asthetics pespective. No visible ducting, Inverters in garage in the location we preferred. He quickly helped me understand where panels should go to maximize their output taking into account the indirect afternoon light

A detailed quote followed which was not the cheapest (but close to), but the best thought out. It was a tricky installation over 3 arrays

You're dealing with a real person who does the work and manages his own staff, not a distant presales person using a piece of software to guess things.

He gave me an install date which he delivered on. He and his team were strict on safety. Attention to detail which I really liked (like relocating the TV antenna and other solar lighting panels I had), all black moutings, and installing the panels to manufacturers spec which I pulled other installers up on). He also double checked the quality of all his guy's work, roof flashing and cabling. The guys cleaned up afterwards and were very professional.

After 5.5 months the system has flawlessly delivered some 3.1 megwatts hours of clean energy and exceeded the estimates provided (by him and his competitors for the period apr 23 through sept 23)

Would highly suggest having him on your short list to talk to when your solar journey comes time.

Fabulous, highly recommend

Aaron was a pleasure to deal with. Patiently answered all my questions over a few days, as I worked through various quotes. Good advice.

When we went through with the job, he and his team came out shortly after approval - way faster than we were expecting. The job was tricky, and he consulted us throughout. He even moved our Inverter to the garage (the original inverter was on a North wall), despite the significant amount of effort it took to run the cabling. And, he did a fabulous job with replacing broken roof tiles - even sourcing the tiles for us. Top bloody servicing, well above and beyond.

He arranged for another electrician to do the checks only a few days after, and we are delighted in our new system.
Highly recommend Aaron and his time - hardworking, friendly, and taking pride in their work.

Fast friendly and professional

Aaron, like the other SolarQuotes recommendations, was very knowledgeable, friendly and patiently answered my questions. Quickly provided a 3 options for my consideration.
The installation was scheduled in two weeks and the crew were extremely polite, tidy and installation completed in one day including ESV audit and approval!
Aaron ensured the Fronius inverter linked to my wifi and explained how to use it.

Professional, hassle free, responsive

Went back to Aaron after seeing the job he installed on my dad's house. Aaron is responsive. He gave several options and left it entirely up to me to research and decide. He and his team showed up on time and did a very professional install. The independent inspector also rates Aaron's work very highly. Aaron arrange all paperwork with the electricity distributor and supplier. System was up and running in 2 weeks (slightly delayed because of inspection). Meter was reconfigured for feed-in few weeks after that. All in all a hassle free process.

Highly recommended.

I'll go back to Aaron for the battery install.

Very happy with the installer and the products

No question was too stupid for Aaron when we were trying to make a decision. He is calm and rational, helpful and knowledgeable - and because our install was a bit tricky, a great lateral thinker for achieving an outcome we're very pleased with. The install was (actually, IS as they're on the roof now!) very well planned, with a friendly and efficient team.

He has assured me that he'll take care of forwarding on all the relevant installation certificates to complete the process with Ausnet... and given our history with him to date, I have no reason to doubt that tis will occur! Needless to say, I feel confident in recommending his services to any other local "wanna be PVs" I speak to.

Traeger Solar installed an 11.22kw solar system at our previous home in November 2019, comprising 34 LG (330w) panels with Enphase micro inverters.
This performed flawlessly during our stay there.

Traegar Solar has now installed an 11.88kw solar system at our current home (May 2023), comprising 27 Jinko (440w) Tiger Neo N-type 54HL4-(V) panels with SolarEdge S440 power optimisers and a SolarEdge Energy Hub SE10000H-AUS3MBX14.

Discussed and agreed positioning of panels and inverter. Interaction with members was always friendly and mutually respectful. The team members cleaned up parts if the site durIng the installation and replaced all items they were required to move at the start.

A trouble free installation. The only requirement on us was to initially make the decision to proceed. From that point it was a simple process . Fast efficient friendly

We began our solar journey more than a year ago. Building delays, Covid etc slowed us down. Traeger Solar stayed in touch and when the time finally arrived, so did they. Aaron review our original array and offered a technical update to the latest available. The original quote barely changed. The team arrived early, worked quickly and completed the job a day short of expected. We hardly noticed their presence. A Great Solution for a site with Shade Issues

I have shading issues on my property and contacted Aaron after receiving three other solar panel installation quotes which had been generated simply from a satellite image of my property and therefore did not take in to account the shade issues. Aaron came out to inspect my property and discuss alternative solutions for managing the shade issues before submitting a quote. Consequently, I ended up with a different and much more effective solution to the other three proposals. This was all done in a very timely manner. Straight Forward & Professional Service that listens to your needs.

Aaron from Traeger Solar was fantastic. He came by on a Saturday to look at the house to give an accurate quote and systems requested. He also answered all questions and gave his professional opinion on our needs and requirements for the system. He also adjusted and amended the quotes in a relatively quick timeframe so we could make a decision. Went through several installers and some would want to sit down with you for hours to talk you through while others just never got back to you. Aaron was the perfect balance of straight forward no BS responses in a short time frame.

Installation was fairly painless and the installers were friendly, polite and professional. Making sure they took off their boots if they had to go indoors to do some work. Only issue was a conduit was installed on the outside of our house from the roof of the 2nd storey down to the roof of the first storey as the 2nd storey was an extension. Would have preferred solar cables going through the wall but I was informed it was impossible.

Aaron got prior approval for the system and organised the final inspection before system was switched on. All-in-all we're very happy so far with our experience and will be looking forward to completing the system with the addition of a battery as well with Traeger Solar.

The only installer that was able to provide me with what I was looking for.

After a chat on the phone Aaron came out and measured up my roof. I explained what I wanted and he spent time explaining what was possible and what was not. He did however, provide me with an option that would completely meet my requirements. None of the other installers were able to give me that. He then got back to me quickly with a quote which was only slightly higher than the other quotes. He provided a timeframe for the installation and completed all work within that timeframe. He cleaned up after he finished and took all rubbish away when he left. I would highly recommend Aaron to anyone wanting a quality job. Original ratings

8 months later we asked Lindsay: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"

Overall the panels and inverter have performed flawlessly however from the very beginning I have had problems with the batteries inverter and software that runs it. I will go through the problems point by point.
1. There is no real manual to explain fully how to use the software or how to trouble shoot problems. The inbuilt trouble shooting that is built into the software only covers about 5 things and I had more than a dozen problems of which only 1 was covered by the trouble shooter.
2. The batteries inverter has needed to be reset at least 6 times in 9 months which is when the system was installed.
3. When something with the battery or the batteries inverter needs attention and my installer says only Tesla can fix it there are weeks of wait time. I have just reported another issue to Tesla and at the moment it has been 12 days but no response as yet.
Half of my problems I would consider minor but the other half have been costing me money. The worst one is that the batteries inverter sends power to the grid when the battery is well below full which has resulted in me selling my power to the grid and then having to buy it back at peak rates as there is not enough left in the battery during peak times. This should be able to be managed with the software but the software will not allow me to fix it. Tesla is looking at the problem as we speak but I have to put up with losing money until they rectify the problem.
