Great service until its paid for and installed.

Honestly this would have been a 5 star review had it not been for the significant damage to my roof that was caused by the installation by Sunshine State Solar and safety practices

The Boys were friendly and respectful, wiring and actual electrical work seem to be of high standard.

Unfortunatley there has been significant damage to my near new roof at the access points and around the new system. the damage is clearly visible from the front of the property and its pretty hard to ignore. I notified Sunshine State Solar of the issue immediately and was told they will talk to their workers to see what happened and get back to me. that was close to 2 months ago with no follow up from their side. after a number of emails, I did get a reply to my email this morning saying that the damage is unavoidable and they arent accepting liability and that I should be making a claim on my home insurance as they arent going to be paying for it.

I'm a tradie in the insurance repair industry and have been working on rooves for 20 years and have never seen solar guys damage a roof like this, particularly on the thicker guage steel that my roof was replaced with recently. I was also home during the instal and could hear them dropping the panels on the roof.

The other issue is that the installers refused to use any type of fall restraint or fall arrest equipment. the rear of my home where thry were working is close to 7m off the ground and of steep pitch. I told them to use their safety gear so they wore their harnesses but did not actually attach them to anything, even the rated anchors that I had in place. I even asked them if they were using wifi harnesses due to then not being used properly which they shrugged off.
As the home owner, and in particular due to having my Heights ticket, had they fallen off the roof I would have been Liable.

My advice, its not worth dealing with them to then have to fight it out legally to have their damage repaired or have to bear the liability of someone falling off your roof because they dont want to follow WHS laws.

Exceptionally profesional at all stages

Thank you both Gina and PK for the assistance that you have both provided during the installation of my solar system and sucessful Government rebate processes. Despite my many requests and variations regarding the system installed, and the Government rebate application process, you both have provided a high level of assistance and professionalism with each request without hesitation. The install guys that attended were quick and cleaned all construction waste prior to leaving and to date, we have not had any issues with the works they performed. Both my wife and I are truly grateful for your assistance and we are glad that we engaged Sunshine State Solar and Electrical to upgrade our solar panels and battery installation.

Sunstate Solar Design and Installation

After reviewing Solar Quotes blog on how to choose your solar supplier, I asked to be provided with quotes from the 3 suppliers and one from an supplier that I selected, based on word of mouth (Sunshine State Solar). All 3 quotes I received via Solar Quotes, recommended a 6.6Kwh system. They all were for the same panels but different inverters and were all priced within a five hundred dollars of each other. Sunshine State Solar recommended a larger 10.5 Kwh system, also using the same components (but a 8.5Kwh inverter and a Hot water Timer). Their price for the larger systems was lower than for all the other suppliers 6.6Kwh system. Sunshine State Solar design staff and installers are all accredited. Sunshine State Solar uses a 3rd party software system to automatically produce a comprehensive quotes (including a detailed return on investment information), which they post online, immediately following my phone call. in accordance with Solar Quotes recommendations, their quote contained all the information required and they ticked all Solar Quotes boxes for being a reliable supplier, even though they did not appear on Solar Quotes list of recommended suppliers . Using Finns recommendations to review the quote, I had done my own research, I found that the expected average solar production and hence the potential returns, contained in Sunshine States quote, to be wildly inaccurate. The quote claimed I could expect an average monthly production rate of up to 54Kwh/day, however, as the inverter output was to be limited to 5Kwh, the maximum not average production I could hope to achieve is only around 50Kwh per day. Fortunately, I did my own math and ignored the sales figures, which still indicated the price would pay for itself in 3 years, so I went ahead based on these figures. Sunshine State Solar installation was performed within 4 business days of me paying a 10% deposit. The installation team of three arrived at the agreed time, were extremely experienced and professional leading to a very efficient and satisfactory installation. Sunshine State Solar did all the organising of my grid connection and change over to a smart meter, which was installed 2 weeks after the Solar installation. I did find that their followup customer service to be little wanting and the Manual provided contained minor missing information which has still not been rectified. Overall I was happy enough with the products installed, the installation and price, despite some minor annoyances with level of customer service and documentation provided to still recommend them to my neighbor and give them a positive review.

Original Review on 04-12-2022:

Good System

I went through this company, as the salesperson was easy to deal with, and the price was not the cheapest, or the dearest. But competitive. Original ratings

10 months later we asked Greg: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"

The system is working great, also BTW if anyone is thinking of joining Amber they should think again. The prices are great if you do not have Solar but if you do have solar 90% of the day they are charging you instead of crediting you for the FIT.

Great job, very happy

The guy on the phone at Sunshine state solar sold me on the system, he was honest, easy to chat with and I liked the guy, very friendly, and FYI I had talked to about 4 others by this stage. He also just made the quote setup easy, he actually listened and we chated about different options, sizes etc, he didn't push me, but gave his opinion on the best setup to meet the requirements i wanted, the installation had issues, but the installers stayed and got it sorted, great job friendly guys. The system has been running about a month or more, for a 11kw system, I am getting about 8 kw on sunny days, in winter, very happy, I went with AGL 14kw at 10c then 5c for the rest of the day, they just dropped there general kW charge from 22c to 18c just remember in qld power companies can change there amounts at any time so they move all the time, AGL also has an app so I can see exactly what I get and what I use, awesome app. So daily, approx spend $3.50 per day and make about $2.20 per day, when the sun is there, remember ofcourse it's winter, so all in all very happy with sunshine state solar and solar itself.
