Reduced Energy Bill

I held off on doing a review until we could verify that what they've installed was actually useful. Four months in and it has reduced our energy bill by half, even through winter and all the weather events since it was installed. Definitely recommending Sunrun Solar for not overpromising anything but delivering on their estimates.

Excellent service

Sunrun solar provided me quotes with a variety of different panels and inverters. They explained things to me and what was best for my needs. The installation was great very tidy they put things like their rubbish in a box. Made sure broken roof tiles were replaced or fixed. Sunrun organised the grid connection. They were there from start to finish. Would definitely recommend them for anyone wanting a solar system.

Sunrun Solar is a great company to deal with

After weeks of research and multiple quotes, we settle with Sunrun Solar for our solar installation. They were not the cheapest but the most honest and transparent company. Some of the companies we had quotes with tried to manipulate the prices after each conversation, whereas Sunrun Solar stayed firm on their price after we provided them with all the information they requested.

That honesty and ethical practice was the biggest tick for us to choose them. They have a local office you can visit and look at the products and their system designer was available for the meeting to understand our energy needs.

I would highly recommend them over other retailers.

For potential customers remember solar systems will stay on your roof for a long time, so invest in a good system through a good retailer that has the best customer interest.

Great experience with Sunrun Solar

Found installation and sales process with Sunrun Solar to be fantastic. Good priced and very easy to contact. My Sales Agent, Prajwal, did a great job at ensuring I was kept up to date at all stages. He was also very patient as I had a few issues with submitting the request for rebate through Solar Victoria, but helped to guide me through all steps. Overall I found Sunrun Solar very professional, I would recommend.

From the very first contact, Sunrun Solar impressed me with their professionalism. The consultation process was informative and helpful, and they were patient in answering all my questions.

The installation itself was a breeze. The crew arrived on time and were incredibly courteous throughout the day. They worked efficiently, causing minimal disruption, and most importantly, their quality of work is top-notch.

I was particularly impressed with how clean and tidy they left the site. They meticulously removed any debris from the installation process, leaving my home looking exactly as they found it, except with a brand new solar system!

Very good experience

My friend had a good experience with Sunrun Solar and so he recommended them to me. And I had same wonderful experience dealing with them. Jaryd provided the best quote we had received so far, was always there to quickly respond to any queries and kept updated us about the progress. Honest, reliable and amazing service

Sunrun Solar was amazing to deal with. They provided detailed quotes and allowed some of the extra costings that the other retailers could not see while quoting (may be trying to undercut). So we had zero issues during the installation. Canopy for the inverter was allowed during the quoting stage which was installed by the installers.

Hands down the best company to deal with for solar and batteries.

Great job, great price and professional service!

Quality service with ethical sales process

The installation team was very professional. Timeframe for installation was a little more than other companies but I was happy to wait for a good installation.

Poor communication, > 5 months - still waiting

My dealings with Ross from the sales team were very positive. He provided a competitive quote in a timely way. Unfortunately the battery that we were quoted on ended up being unsuitable for our property, so we had to change plans at the time of installation.

Another employee, gave me an installation date within a couple of weeks of paying the 10% deposit on 25 September 2023. This was meant to be 6 December, which was more than the 5 weeks indicated in the original proposal, Unfortunately I received a call in the afternoon of 5 December advising that installation would be delayed until 18 December 2023.

The installers arrived on 18 December 2023 and discovered that the battery that we had been quoted on, was not suitable for our set-up. The team came up with an alternative, that cost more, and was not available until after the Christmas period.

The battery was finally installed on 31 January 2024 however the necessary wiring work was not completed until 14 February. The ESV inspector attended on 26 February and has advised that more work needs to be done by the installer in order for our system to be connected to the grid.

I am hoping that by mid March this work will be done, but I am still waiting for confirmation.

Good Customer Service

I contacted Sunrun Solar few months before my new build house to be handed over by the builder. I spoke with Prajwal who patiently took all the details and provided me with various options. I went through all the finer details on my power usage, my appliances, heating and cooling in the house, and the north west direction of my house. Prajwal considered all this information and provided me with the solar panel and the inverter, the size and the type of panel that will suit our requirement. He also mentioned that their installers are in-house, meaning they don't use contractors. This was very important as I have heard stories of contractor installers who do not provide a good installation service. On the installation day, the installation crew turned up (there were at least 6 members). I asked them to double check if the panels were not damaged, as they were in the open space for a few days. They checked and confirmed all were okay and proceeded to install the panels. After installation they provided me with the information on how an inspector will come to check and turn on the inverter. This also happened without much of a delay and I started getting the benefit of the solar panels. It has been 4 or 5 months since I started using the solar, and I have not had to pay my electricity bill yet, thanks to Summer as well.
I highly recommend Sun Run Solar and appreciate Prajwal for his exceptional customer service.

Great with room for improvement.

The sales/quoting was definitely a 5 star. Prajwal was very thorough in explaining the system to me and was also very helpful correcting what I might have misunerstood. He explained to me how the Tesla battery is better. He convinced me to go with Tesla for battery and it is really a good decision and I am really glad he convinced me to do so.

The installation process is where things can be improved. I paid a deposit of 20 percent on September 21, 2023 a day after I signed up with Prajwal. It was not after over 2 weeks that I heard from the installation man, Harsh. I was getting worried and was starting to think that I got scammed. Harsh reassured me but was not able to give an exact date of installation just a rough estimate. I am not sure exactly of the time frames, but close to the date of the rough estimate of the installation, they informed me that the guy who is suppose to do my solar installation had an accident. He fell of the roof apparently. My installation was postponed without a definite installation date. I was worried that their company might close before my solar is installed. The most frustrating part is they give me non definite installation day, something they are hoping for but then they never call to confirm that it is gonna happen or even if it was not going to happen. I got cranky and unhappy during the waiting time for installation. I feel bad to those I might have been rude on the phone. The installation eventually was completed on the 5th of December, 2 and a half months since I paid the deposit. I paid the rest cash as I did not get the battery interest free loan being offered by Victoria.

The installers were polite. They came on the day early. Ahmad appears to be well knowledgeable about what he is doing. I also find that he does not accept sub standards and wants things to be done to the best. They were also quite careful and only broke one roof tile which is really good as I only had 8 spares. They cleaned and tidied the garage really well.

Sunrun organised the grid connection, but because it was the Holidays already, Powercor was on holidays too and did not get my solar alteration, whatever that means until 12/02/24. That is when I finally started getting Feed-in Tariffs.

The process starting from when I signed up to having FIT took almost 5 months. Inspite of all, I am still happy to give a 5 star review. The guys just needs to communicate with their customers more frequently.

Would I recommend Sunrun Solar? Absolutely Yes.

Had to chase every step of the way - would not recommend

Sales process was fine.

I cannot speak for the quality of the installation itself and I have no issues with the installers. However, the installation process/customer service was terrible. Our installation was incomplete and then our job was 'lost'. This occurred twice through the process and each time we had to join the back of the installation queue to be completed. Very disappointing and displayed a lack of care. No responsibility taken or priority given to complete our job.

We signed up at the start of Sep 2024 and currently (Jan 2024) awaiting connection to the grid.

From the quoting process to the final install, I couldn’t fault Sunrun Solar.

We received three recommended suppliers from SolarQuotes but only two initially responded to my requests. The third company responded after a prompt from my feedback to Finn.

Ross from Sunrun Solar was extremely knowledgeable and promptly answered all my questions. I compared the quotes with a couple of local quotes and Sunrun was the most comprehensive. Being a bit of a newbie as far as Solar goes, I ran them past my knowledge brother. We came up with several questions which Ross promptly answered and we made a slight alteration to the Inverter. Another big deciding factor was that Sunrun used their own crew and not sub-contractors for the install. Having family in the building trade, I preferred to deal with experienced installers.

Being in Ballarat I was a bit hesitant to get an installer from Melbourne. Also being two storey and a difficult install, I sent Ross pictures and stressed that I didn’t want visible conduit from the three different arrays. To top it off, the inverter would be in the garage opposite the fuse box through a double brick cavity wall. He advised that it wouldn’t be an issue. I’d seen a few atrocious looking installs and didn’t want to go there.

We booked the install date and Corey and the crew turned up right on time (even called to advise when they were in transit). They got straight into it and commenced the install, also happily answered all my questions. At all times they were polite, knowledgeable and respectful. Considering the difficulty of the install, they only cracked two tiles (I had 15 ready). At the end of the day they cleaned up everything and took all the rubbish with them. No dirt or dust left anywhere. Corey returned a couple of days later to connect the inverter. I’m currently waiting to get the signoff from Energy Vic.

Big shout out to Ross, Corey and the crew, they are a credit to Sunrun Solar and I have no hesitation in recommending them for your solar install.

Original Review on 13-02-2023:

Overall experience acceptable, but room for improvement

Sales process was good. Paul took time to go through the various options and also do some detailed analysis of the potential shading from trees on my fenceline. He has happy to go through some clarifications and tweaks. Price wasn't the lowest, however was competitive. However, after the sale (pre and post install), I did ask about buying Solar Analytics through Sunrun but other than the initial "will get back to you", I've heard nothing so have signed up directly.

Installation was average. It seemed the installers did not review the contract or design thoroughly before the day. It was agreed in the contract that our TV antenna would be moved, but the installers wanted to leave it and move the north array panels instead, which would have potential shading issues. The accredited installer arrived later and only stayed for a bit, and wanted to charge me $100 extra to move the antenna. Ultimately, they moved it but not to the location required (they placed it right next to the panels where bird droppings are a problem - I had to pay someone else to move it later) and also found that the tile under the antenna was smashed.

The installers also wanted to change my west-facing array to a different location as they claimed the original design was too close to the evaporative cooler unit. So they moved it to a location that isn't ideal (due to potential shading). Upon completion, it looked to me that the array could've fit easily in the original location and seems like they just chose the path of least resistance. I'm not sure that they grinded the roof tiles either - I was told that it is normal and this is the way they do all their installs. Plus quick a few marks were left on the panels from handling.

Installers should really not be making changes on the fly as there are good reasons why designs are done a certain way. And claiming that there would be no shading issues whilst standing on the roof at noon in the middle of summer doesn't cut it. Any changes should be: (1) consulted with the designer; and (2) agreed upfront with the customer. A few times during the install, I had to ask what was going on otherwise I would not have known changes were being made nor had the opportunity to reverse them.

Lastly, the installer had trouble with the WiFi on my Goodwe inverter as he had not worked with one before (?). I found out later that he had connected to the neighbour's Goodwe inverter and configured that so it would connect via my WiFi.

Post install was great. Inspection was done in about 1.5 weeks, and grid connection in about 3 weeks. System has been running well so far, but we'll have to see later in the year when the sun is lower in terms of the effect the changes that were made have on the system. I had a few questions about the inverter noise which was dealt with by Jit. No real documentation other than the invoice and certificates. Original ratings

The west-facing array which was installed in a different location to designed ended up having more shading than if they were installed in the original location. As I wrote in my original review, it could've fit in the original location if the installers didn't take the path of least resistance.

The marks that were left on the panels from install seem to be some sort of grease which isn't removed by water/rain. After contacting Sunrun, they denied it was from installation even though I have early photos, and claimed it was some sort of 'environmental residue'.

When I received my user manual (effectively an 'as-built' document) 5 months later, it contained incorrect warranty information for the inverter and overall workmanship. It took another 3 months and multiple emails to have these corrected, and even then it wasn't 100%.

All the above does not fill me with confidence if things go wrong within the workmanship warranty period. These issues, along with the issues outlined in my previous review regarding the original installation, means that I had to reduce some ratings to ensure that it more accurately reflects the overall experience.

Great solar installer

Extremely happy with my solar install by Sunrun Solar.

Rahul, my sales guy, was extremely helpful and patient with me as I worked through all of my quotes comparing install to install. Rahul was able to break down all the solar stuff in a way that even I could understand. No hard sell, just good info and a friendly chat.

Installation day went down without a hitch. The crew showed up on time and clearly knew their stuff. Worked as a production line and installed the system in no time.

Grid connection was prompt and worked through the system faster than I thought it would.

Honest sales person, good quality job well wired, good communication

Sales person was very good to work with. Offered a number of options and didn’t try a bluff his way through the process. He was very honest and corrected some of my incorrect assumptions about the system we were considering.

Installers were very punctual, polite and tidy. There were some minor things with the install that with hindsight could have been done differently but they were only minor cosmetic issues and not technical issues. All wiring and final connections were completed professionally.

They withheld getting final payment until the job was fully completed as there was a wait for a week for specialist plugs to add panels to my existing system.

Seamless installation

I found Sunrun to be easy to communicate with and prompt with replies to any questions. Their pricing was competitive and the products they offered were high quality. Organising installation was seamless and the installation was completed to my satisfaction. I am currently waiting on the system to be inspected, passed an turned on and then will be able to observe the system outputs and also use the phone app to monitor use. So at this stage I am quite happy with the company.

Fantastic and Professional Installer

I recently reached out to Sunrun Solar for my solar needs and I received a call from Rahul who helped me understand the whole process end to end and also helped me to choose the best products for my needs and budget. He was not pushy like other sales people, he provided me with all the info and scheduled a followup after checking with me and tried to get me a best deal. He was even open with the installation timelines and was not making any false promises. I signed the deal and the installation team came on the scheduled day on time and completed their installation within a day and they were perfect and cleaned up as well after they were done. They even completed the paperwork quickly so that I get the savings for the extra power my system generates and feeds the grid. They sent me all the manuals and other information I need.
