Solar Power Direct exceeded all expectations! Kyle in pre-sales was exceptional, patiently working through various scenarios and answering all my questions without hesitation given the layout and formations of our home. His expertise made me confident in choosing them.The installation was flawless. The team arrived on time, worked efficiently, and maintained a clean site throughout. They were respectful, professional, and clearly communicated the process.

Amazing customer service
We installed our panels almost 6 years ago, and the invertor just failed. We called Solar Power Direct and they organised replacement and install in just over a week. No fuss, No cost to us. All done underwatranty. The constantly communicated with us. Customer service was excellent. Our friends have used diffcompanies who are disinterested post install. Not these guys. I highly recommend them. Even after I trail solar they followed up about a year later to check in.Inverter rating: 3/5

Solar purchase.
My dealings with solar direct started with the sales rep who was quick to respond to my queries and to get back with the quote. The installation process was also good they where punctual, quick to explain and left job clean and tidy.19 December 2023
Great experience, great system
The salesman was very thorough. Really drilled into our requirements, then provided 5 different options (originally 4, then added another), explaining the pros and cons of each one.The installers were super polite, professional, thorough and cleaned up after themselves - we ended up giving them a dozen beers as a thank you for their efforts!
There were a couple of minor hiccups in the process re: warranty paperwork and invoices, but my queries were promptly, professionally and thoroughly followed up.
It's only been a couple of weeks and the weather has been fairly cloudy, but so far there's only been one day where we've used more from the grid than we've sent to the grid, so we're pretty happy that the system is meeting the outcomes we were hoping for.

Excellent company to deal with
From initial enquiry and quote, to install a battery to my existing PV system, the whole process was seamless. Staff were knowledgeable and tradespeople turned up on time, were competent and well organised. Salesperson went way beyond expectations to organise what is a fairly unusual system. Nothing was too much of a challenge, and I was kept informed throughout. Very happy with the whole process.
Everything, so far, has been done as promised.Meters have not yet been installed, but the appointment has been made.
Supplier Reply:
Hi Barry,I feel confident that I have explained the reasoning for the different data figures you are comparing, this is not a case of the new inverter producing less electricity and instead it’s a case of two different performance figures being compared.
On your first inverter you were viewing the ‘PV Data’ chart on the Portal which displays DC power into the inverter, With this inverter you are viewing data from the inverters screen (the screen was inoperative on the first inverter) which displays the AC power out. The inverter is 98% Efficient, when 5kW DC goes in, 4.9kW AC comes out. During our calls, we identified we were comparing different charts, you mentioned this explains part of the confusion.
Your solar system generates 26kWh on average which is what is expected of a 6.6kW System in SA. This is remarkable given the shading from the large tree across the road in winter.
Your review implied that we would not investigate the issue. I believe this is an unfair statement as you are aware our director and electrical engineer both investigated the issue and had multiple discussions with you regarding it, until you stopped accepting their calls. You are in Berri, and we are based in Adelaide. It is difficult to justify sending a team of electricians on a 400km round trip to investigate an issue that does not exist.
A log of our attempts to resolve the misunderstanding are as follows:
3rd March – Saidus our inhouse electrical engineer received your concerns and an email with the data you recorded from the inverter screen. Saidus & Growatt individually reviewed data from the inverter, both found that the inverter was operating as expected.
6th March– Saidus requests the inverter remain online for a fortnight for monitoring.
21st March– Saidus calls to inform you that the system is operating without fault. You state you can only see the lower figures around 4.9kw (Later it was discovered that you are viewing AC data)
23rd March – Paul (Director) calls to discuss the findings and emails you data to confirm that no faults found.
*At this point our teams calls stop being answered and we do not receive call backs.
5th May– Paul our director attempts a call.
9th May– Paul attempts a call.
2nd Jun- Ruth attempts a call.
6th Jun- Ruth attempts a call.
7th Jun- Ruth attempts a call.
7th Jun- Ruth sends a text; “Hi Barry. This is Ruth from Solar Power Direct. We tried to call you to follow up on your system performance. Can you please return my call at your earliest convenience. Thank you”
13th Jun- Ruth attempts to return a missed call from Barry.
14th Jun- Ruth attempts a call.
I believe the above details show we have invested considerable time and effort to resolve the confusion. It was after all these attempts that you updated your review to state that we did not acknowledge an issue or arrange time to investigate it.
Tuesday 19th Sept- I called you to discuss what you feel is wrong. We have a good chat, and you agree to connect the inverter to the internet for me to monitor.
Tuesday 19th Sept– I call to discuss live data.
Tuesday 19th Sept– I called to summarise findings, Inverter achieved 5kW, although due to clouds I request the inverter remain online.
Wednesday 20th Sept- I call to discuss findings, inverter reaches 5kW but due to cloud you agree to keep the inverter online so it can be monitored.
Thursday 21st Sept– I call and update Ann, I advise ill continue to monitor over the weekend. I advised that Growatt cannot fault it, and at my request they have updated the inverter and checked grid voltage.
Monday 25th Sept– I call to review data from Friday & Saturday, figures show traditional power curves and good energy production. Barry was adamant of a fault. After all the evidence and effort, I feel we have done all that is humanly possible to assist.
We are apologetic that we cannot replace your inverter for you under warranty, for a warranty claim the manufacturer needs to be able to fault the product.
10 months later we asked Barry: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
No. The 5.5Kw system installed on my previous home would far out perform this 6.6Kw system, in spite of our perfect northerly, unshaded position here.I had expected, and originally achieved, better results. It is only since the replacement inverter was fitted that performance has decreased.

installed a 10kw system in June 2023
I was hesitant at first about the investment of a solar system but we have a pool and up till last year the power bills didn't bother me. I was getting recently a $1490+ bill each quarter and that was high considering i was using a wholesaler for my electricity. Anyway I had 3 quotes and two were from companies who pretended to be in SA but who's offices were actual residential addresses and not offices as such. my 3rd quote from Solar Power Direct (SPD) in Grange Rd, Welland had an actual office which I drove by and checked out. Products inside to view and inspect, staff and clean and tidy.All their staff were great and not in any way pushy. They did a proper quote and evaluation of my house roof space and use the latest technology to predict the system output verses my usage. After that they sent a team of qualified in house electricians (two of them) to inspect the roof and measurements and make any adjustments needed prior to the install date.
I used their office to sign and inspect the products that were going on the roof. The warranties seemed really long so I was impressed.
On the day they installed we had no nasty surprises. It was done very nicely and again by in house (SPD) electricians. No sub contractors.
We waited about a week or so for the Electricity provider to upgrade our old electric meter to a digital one which cost us $150 approx.
We have had it 3 months now and heading into summer and have been continually impressed with the power generated each day. We have a pool and I wanted an improvement to our electricity bill. Our bill has been reduced by about $1000 a quarter and possibly in summer I think we will be in credit. the system will take approx 2 years to pay for itself in actually money expenditure terms but we are delighted by the design of the system as we do have an awkward layout with shading issues.
Would I recommend these people?. YES YES YES I would. very decent and professional team and company. Thank you so much Solar Power Direct from Philip Rosewater 5013

Good old fashioned service
The sales quoting process was straightforward and easy to understand. The installation was completed, on time, on budget, and without any issues. The installers cleaned up, so no fuss and no muss. All notifications to the grid were conducted and the system is functioning as promised. From start to finish, Solar Direct help me chose the right battery for my purposes. The customer service was exceptional and the installation team very professional. The thing I really appreciated was that Solar Direct designed a battery setup that was not based on selling the most expensive product, but what was actually fit for my purposes. Wish I had started with Solar Power Direct
Had early difficulties with other solar power companies due to our roof needing special care during installation.After multiple knockbacks a colleague suggested Solar Power Direct. Glad I listened!
The team at Solar Power Direct were understanding and knowledgeable from the start of the process, and were able to adjust their install method for our roof.
Pricing was reasonable, with good quality Risen panels and a Fronius inverter. Didn't try to oversell, didn't push batteries and we were able to eliminate the need for optimisers.
Quoting, acceptance and payment method was smooth and easy and the installation was scheduled faster than i could have hoped for (before going away) and the lads were punctual, efficient and super friendly. I liked that the installers were part of the larger Solar Power Direct team (no 3rd parties).
After sales service and assistance with the meter change etc was also very good.
Overall, couldn't hoped for a better outcome and a great experience. Thanks again, team :-)

Data logger replacement
My data logger was replaced under warranty. Fantastic service by all at Solar Power Direct. They analysed the problem in their first visit and were back within a week to replace the faulty item.Great service and all staff are pleasant and professional to deal with. I wouldnt use anyone else other than Solar Power Direct.

Fast efficient and compromising
So pleased to have had Solar Power Direct complete the process of installing my panels and battery system. The quoting was carried through with an inspection and discussion around what is suitable for the system to function at its optimal. Given workmanship warranty is for 10-year, I don't understand why this isn't addressed and rectified.

Fantastic experience
Solar panels were installed in 2013 by Solar Power Direct, and in 2021 there was a manufacturing fault on the panel which was still under warranty. The team at Solar Power Direct sent a technician to diagnose the problem and organise replacement of all the panels. This is a small family run business, and their customer service and communication was excellent. The replacement of all panels were installed without a hitch. Friendly and knowledgeable people!
We purchased a Tesla Powerwall 2 from Power Solar Direct. Everything was smooth and straight forward from the beginning to after installation. The only hiccup was that the communication between Power Solar Direct and Plenti was somehow broken and all government grant allocations had been taken up so we were forced to go to the lower grant tier. Power Solar Direct in the end accepted the quote with the loss towards themselves (we had to fork out another $262 extra though), but this would’ve been prevented if the communication was clearer.

i had the experience of dealing with Steve as a sales person who was prompt and professional in his dealings, i further recommended 2 more friends and Steve provided us with an unmatched deal with an amazing customer service. The thing i loved the most was that i was'nt pastured with phone calls and emails once i was quoted the price like other solar companies and forced to make a decision ASAP, rather Steve was patient in answering all my queries. The company has its own in house technicians and installers which was one of the reason to go with them. Decided to go with a well established local company for peace of mind and ease of communication.
Preliminary research indicated that the sola installation was as important a factor as was the panels and inverter.I chose Solar Power Direct after informative discussions with their representative Adrian Hansen.
Adrian presented a comprehensive picture of what I needed re panel selection and positioning and the best choice of Inverter.
The installation was conducted by SPDirect employees (not Sub Contracters) which was aligned with the company's high standards,
I have no hesitation in recommending Solar Power Direct to those considering similar installations.

Solar Power Direct was the easiest company I dealt with going through finding a solar system for the house very professional and not pushyFrom the outset dealing with Steve he answered my multiple questions on inverters, panels and best setups/configurations and what would work best
The lads installing were polite and very professional and nothing was a hassle
A few changes had to be made on the day due to roof footprint but they sat down and explained what they had to do and why
