Trustworthy Provider
Mustafa Merchant from Solar Merchant is a very non pushy sales guy who gives you the space and time to decide and doesn’t hassle you with the purchase. Also, given that he is one of the owners of the company, he’s always available to answer any questions you may have and explain everything in detail.Mustafa also has dedicated teams which handle the installation and doesn’t sub-contract to other installers, which just helps trust the whole system more since he’s aware about what exactly goes into the installation.
They also handle everything from end to end, i.e. the complete installation as well as connectivity to the grid, change of meter, etc.

Wish I'd chosen another company
Dealt with them for the initial consult and site visit and was confident for a 6.5KW 15 panel installation.Unfortunately the install wasn't very good and doesn't comply to standards. They have been flaky ever since I signed the contract and paid the deposit. Seems to only use his phone at 9pm or later which is unprofessional in my opinion.
4 guys from different companies turned up for the install - two wearing shirts for a different solar company altogether and the other two in casual wear so obviously Solar Mecharts sub-contracted for the job. I picked a local company hoping for local tradies but sadly not to be.
The guys managed to break 8 roof tiles in the process of the installation including one cemented into the ridge capping so now I have to get a roofer out to replace that tile and re-cement the ridge capping. Thanks.
Roof is only 3 years old by the way.
Most alarming is none of the tiles were ground down to fit the mounting brackets and so they now sit high and water can easily get into the roofspace. This contravenes the Solar Installers Council Guidelines 7.2.6 wherein all tiles shall sit flat after the installation of mounting brackets (may require grinding).
I have not received a CCEW for the switchboard work done, and, signage required by AS/NZS 5033:2021 is not present adjacent to the manhole in the roof stating DC cabling is present.
To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I have spent nearly $9000 of hard earned money for a non-compliant installation and very poor customer service. I'm on the phone to NSW Fair Trading on Monday to start the ball rolling on this dodgy mob.
