This was a local installer who had been recommended by a neighbour. He visited the house and stepped me patiently through options. Installation was done on the day agreed without problems.

A local company that knocked the big boys out of the park in service, price and quality. I had one supplier take a look and basically tell me they could not install on my house and another did not even come to my house, they just used google maps and quoted me over $10,000 for a system. The guys from Solar Connections designed a brilliant system that is very sympathetic to our 1890s weatherboard, they were also prompt and very efficient. Thanks Solar Connections!!

This supplier was the cheapest of all quotes ,his installation time was the quickest, his work was great and he and his team cleaned everything up to our satisfaction. He also offered a rebate on all recommendations from us.

Everything is good but even on a very advantageous day, with favourable ambient temperatures and no shading on a very clear day, on a north facing roof the system is only producing a maximum of 1.7kw and the installer is having to seek advice from overseas to find out why the system is underperforming. I am still waiting for an answer.

I have some experience with this type of technology so I had an advantage.
There is know doubt that as with all technology you get what you pay for and a little reading up on the subject won't hurt. Important with this type of system is knowing that you will still get something from your investment when the days are not at all sunny. A solar inverter requires a level of input voltage before it will start producing electricity. Smaller less efficient systems will struggle on less favourable days.
Most of the representatives made the experience more akin to buying a car including that old favourite of calling the manager to cut a special deal. They mostly had two offers, inexpensive blockbuster and quality (normal) equipment and were mostly unwilling to provide anything outside of their current offers. If they did, the prices were inflated.
In the end I chose a local company who knew what they were talking about and were willing to make changes based on my needs and wants, without overly inflating the costs. I am happy with my purchase and am confident that Solar Connections will provide ongoing support should I need it.

Easy, quickly and efficiently done. Only difficulty is getting solar people to come down to a 'novice's' level. While they work all the time in the business as a lay person I had to research on-line to understand what was involved.
