Fantastic outcome - we hit some issues but SEA never gave in !
I went with SEA as they offered a good system at a good price but the clincher was the ability to pay by the month over five years interest free thru a VPP option. We hit a few snags with our system (the production of energy did not meet the average rates quoted by SEA as there had been a mistake in the design process) but SEA were incredible in resolving the issue, looking for solutions and working through it patiently to make us happy - firstly they came and moved some panels to better locations, then they added twelve more panels to make sure we're getting the maximum energy for our location and roof design.It is so rare that a business can admit fault and work to rectify it - I have to say that SEA customer service and tech support are the best ! They are very responsive, they listen and they are tenacious, never giving up until the issue is resolved. I would call out Ikram in particular as he was incredible in working with me to fix the problems.
As a customer it’s disappointing when things don’t go to plan but that’s when you find out what kind of company you’re dealing with - the kind that counts the money and disappears or the kind that wants to ensure you have the best solution possible and SEA are definitely the latter ! The best !
We now have a fully working system producing the maximum amount of energy possible for our roof and we are very happy.

Excellent company to deal with.
Firstly, the salesperson/technician gave excellent system details and no BS. Their warehouse is huge and clean, with all products in stock and on display. They explained each alternative, providing details of each product's manufacture and warranty backing. Installation was quick and efficient; I have no complaints at all. SEA lack knowledge on the Enphase product on all levels (sales, inspection, installation, post-sales)
I embarked on the solar journey via SolarQuotes (SQ) despite having a small North Roof which gets shaded at midday in winter, a larger unshaded South Roof and a small Flat Roof which is shaded in the morningI ended up choosing the Enphase system not because of the supposed shading benefits but because my electricity box is exposed in a street lane & any inverter installed near there would be subject to vandalism or installed with another ugly guard box. I had read that the Enphase system didnt require a main inverter to be installed but only required a small device called "Envoy" which could potentially fit in the existing electricity box or better still, installed inside the house next to any existing sub-board
Out of the firms SQ referred me to, I decided to pay a premium for Smart Energy Answers (SEA) as I preferred a larger firm than ‘one man band’ companies as I thought that they would provide better after sales support in case any issues arose. SEA also claimed to provide a “quality control follow-up within 4wks from installation” & a “performance guarantee” which is supposed to provide compensation if the output of the installed system is less than estimates generated by their sales program. The estimate considers the length of day & avg weather conditions each month (ie how many rainy, cloudy, & sunny days), azumith + pitch of the panels, and any shading from nearby objects
At first, SEA’s sales consultant insisted that the Enphase system had to be installed with an iBoard, a box which looks as big as any inverter however after a bit of prodding he said that if I paid SEA a non-refundable $200 (if I didnt proceed with SEA) or a 10% deposit, they’d send someone to make a site inspection. This was arranged for 25/3
Sadly the site inspector (SI) had no idea as well! I found this confusing as SEA claims to be a ‘Enphase Gold Installer.’ The only thing the SI was useful for was to get himself on the roof & take more accurate measurements of the North roof which resulted in another 2 panels fitting onto the plan. However, he failed to measure the South roof properly (the installer still had to change his layout) & no consideration was given to tilting any of the panels on the Flat Roof (so they could self clean) or the last row of the South Roof
A couple of days later SEA advised that the installation team would be available on 3/4 between 0700-0830. At 1000, the 1st member of the installation team arrived. I was surprised he was wearing a t-shirt from another company as I'm pretty sure the SEA sales consultant said they had their own in-house installers although this didnt concern me at the time. This installer also didnt know whether the Envoy could sit inside the meter box or the sub-board inside the house but after a call to his boss, he proceeded to start installing the Envoy inside the meter box. The boss arrived ½hr later & he took some quick measurements on all 3 roofs which resulted in a more optimal positioning for the 8 panels on the South roof. Another member of the installation team arrived after that & together, the 3 man team proceeded to install the system. I would have preferred to have the conduit of cables from the roof to the electricity box go inside the wall cavity instead of having the conduit on the outside of the house ( as per https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/solar-installation-video-mb2069/ which was also suggested by 1 of the other SQ quoters) however this was not to be. After the panels were installed, the boss set up the Envoy to communicate with my Wifi although as the sun was starting to set, we couldnt see whether everything was running smoothly. As the Envoy was installed inside the electricity box, the iBoard was not required although SEA has not refunded me for this (it retails for >$750)
The next day 4/4 the SEA support team got to work with the paperwork to my energy retailer to arrange a new smart meter to be installed. Everything was going very well within the support team. There were many team members, each with different tasks. This is exactly what I expected and was very pleased with their efficiency. The team forwarded me a user manual & then set me up with the Enphase app (EApp) however it was then I started to notice a few issues:
-The “Energy” tab of the EApp was recording all the ‘production’ [blue] plus my imports [grey] as being ‘consumed’ [orange]. I assumed at the time that this was because I was not connected to the grid yet
-I also asked whether I was self-consuming the electricity I was generating and the reply came back from SEA as yes (this answer proved incorrect)
-there was nothing displayed in the “Array” tab of the EApp so I could not see how the individual panels were performing
On 11/4 the panels were populated in the “Array” tab. I dont know whether this delay was caused by the installer not passing on the information to SEA or a delay at SEA’s end. Anyhow, the data showed that one of the panels hadnt produced any electricity since the day of install. A tick for the Enphase system as this may not have been noticed in a normal string system! I waited a few more days as I thought that SEA would be monitoring the system in the background & would inform me as such and/or fix things in the background however this didnt happen. On 14/4 I emailed the team advising my concern. One of the original installers quickly came back on 17/4 & determined that one of the solar panels was not working however as he did not have any spares he would have to come back at a later date
By 28/4 my system was connected to the grid & my house was using the electricity generated & exporting the excess however the EApp was still showing all the ‘production’ [blue] plus my imports [grey] as being ‘consumed’ [orange]. After weekly follow up emails to SEA’s support team, the boss installer came back on 23/5 to replace the panel & to rewire the Envoy. The EApp was now finally showing both imports & exports!
I wish I could end the review here and be satisfied for the most part however:
After the dead panel was replaced there was a string of sunny days in late May so I was able to start comparing what the actual output of the system was with what SEA had forecast in their quote. 12.6, 11.9, 11.8, 11.7kWh was achieved on these perfectly sunny, cloudless days in late May. However, SEA’s quote said the system should be generating an avg of 12.8kWh in June after considering cloudy & rainy days! Days would only be getting shorter up until the June equinox & the output I was getting on sunny days in late May would only be getting lower on sunny days in June. Basic maths told me that even if it was sunny every single day in June, I would have no hope of getting to the predicted avg of 12.8kWh! I emailed my concerns on 29/5 as well as asking whether the “quality control follow-up within 4 weeks from installation” would be undertaken as it was now nearly 7 wks since the original installation
Meanwhile, I was still experiencing discrepancies with the EApp: Ausgrid’s data was saying I was importing ~40% & exporting 15% more electricity than the import/export numbers on the EApp. Enphase help files suggest that numbers should be within a 2.5% tolerance level. I emailed the support team on 5/6 with my findings, including pictures showing the differences from both the EApp & my energy retailer. I followed up on 18/6, 25/6, and 27/6. This was increasingly concerning for me as I did not expect SEA, an Enphase Gold Installer, to not know or not reply to this issue
On 28/6 I received a call from SEA who:
-claimed solar radiation was lower this yr than previous yrs & that was the cause of my lower generation (this is false as Ive checked with friends whove been getting same generation on sunny days in the middle of June as previous yrs)
-claimed the “quality control follow-up within 4 wks from installation” was nothing more than the ability for me to talk to SEA about issues and not SEA being proactive to see if anything else was wrong with system
On 29/7 boss installer came back & advised nothing was wrong with the wiring. SEA attempted to charge $150 fee as it "wasnt their issue” despite not advising of potential charges before hand or my agreeance to such charge
In Oct I went on holidays. Despite having only a fridge & modem on, Enphase still recorded a correlation between production & consumption. This provided further proof that something was still wrong as the discrepancy between Enphase and my energy retailer persists. SEA has yet to respond to my latest email (3 wks and counting)
And so here we are. This is the longest review Ive done & Ive had to cut it

Self powered home
Smart Energy were easy to deal with and informative from the start so I bit the bullet and got a Tesla powerwall installed. Everything went according to the dates and times they told me .The installer was a good friendly guy who educated me on the system and app on my phone . The battery was charging from Solar the day of installation .

Removal of old and installation of new solar system.
Whole process , from quatation to removal and installation of new system was done very professionally and quickly in about six hours. We are very happy with new system and the app to monitor consumption and production.Highly recommend tis company!

Easy
Talking on the phone was good, but took a long time talking about nothing before getting down to business.Installation was good, easy going, showed up on time! Seemed to do a good job.
Showed us how to use everything, there is a problem with the app and Sam the guy who was installing really tried to fix it, but couldn’t. Still not working properly but the installation guy really tried to fix it.

They did what they said
Whole process was stress free. The advice was helpful for someone who didn't really know what I was doing, yet don't feel that they took advantage of that. Initial consultant spent plenty of time to explain anything that I needed to understand to make a more informed decision rather than try to push me into a sale in a hurry.The installation happened exactly when booked with no drama. Clean, neat and efficient installation. Happy with the end result.

Poor - Overpromised energy production
I went with SEA as they offered a good system at a good price but the clincher was the ability to pay by the month over five years interest free thru a VPP option.After surveying my roof by satellite imaging and then in person, they quoted a system with average production numbers by month. I took these forecasts at face value - after all, they’d done their homework and it is fairly straightforward maths.
My system has been operating for over six months now and I’m very disappointed - it generates nothing like the quoted values and at best I can get around two thirds of the quote. This means I am buying more energy and the ROI on the system is considerably longer which renders our investment unviable when you consider likely battery life.
I am very disappointed - this was after a lengthy installation with quite a few issues. SEA have been back and moved a few panels and they even suggested I cut next doors tree down (!!!) which was there well before there site review and design.
Either SEA don’t know how to design a system to estimate the production, or they really screwed up this one design or they claim false production rates to fraudulently make the ROI look better. I don’t know enough about other SEA installations to know which of these is true.
Their customer service (aside from a flawed solution) is good - fast to respond and seemingly eager but I ended up with the same suboptimal outcome.

Quick quotes and fast installation
After reviewing the information on the web site on a Wednesday, I arranged to get 2 companies to quote. One responded immediately and the other the next day. By the end of Friday the sales staff had visited, and I received my quotes over the weekend. That is a very fast quoting process!We made our choice and the system was professionally installed in half a day about a month later. The whole process was painless and has been working well for about a month so far.

Simple, straight forward, good execution
Straight forward process with good communication. Marginally more than competition in quote process, but knowledge, responsiveness and guidance for solution provided greater confidence.Installation also straight forward, good communication (including deferral and prompt revisit due to high winds)
Plenty of follow up customer service allowing any silly questions to be asked.
Only let down to date has been the energy provider and change over for smart meter!

Great service- waited a few months so that we could verify premises were water tight on new house. Installers were professional and quick and excellent in their explaining the system and changed it around as wife wasn't happy with one corner of one panel showing from street-of course!Generation has been good with 10.12kw system- Trina 440 watt panels and Sungrow 10kw inverter

My Solar PV Journey
The process of negotiation and agreement was easy.The installation was by a contracted party. They were very knowledgeable and worked efficiently. The set up of the inverter for my Isolarcloud app hasn't been carried out as it is waiting for final inspection.

Patience and good decisions
Best decision I made was to not take the first offer from an energy retailer, research the options and engage Solar Quotes to facilitate contact with reputable solar installation companies. Also had a roofer come out prior to the installation to make sure the roof was in good condition prior to having the panels put up.Supplier Reply:

Quality installation
Excellent sales person, always got back to me in a timely mannerIt was a quality installation, the team worked to 8:00pm trying to get the installation finished, I asked them to leave as it was dark at this point. They returned the next day, but there was a glitch which took a couple of weeks to sort out, slightly disappointed, but overall I am happy with the installation and the system.
A new electricity meter was installed, but at this point I am not sure about the grid connection

Prepared to got the extra mile
I had a complex install with limited roof space, some shading and integration with existing systems.The installer was prepared to use all the suitable roof space and supply a system that would optimise output with shading and multiple orientations of panels.
The installers worked very hard and were quite resourceful in solving issues on the day.

Great Experience
Sales process was non aggressive, the sale person listened to what I had to say and did not push anything I did not want as part of the system.Installer (Lee) was great.
Let me know at every stage of the installation what was going on.
We discussed any challenges that he came across.
Installation was smooth, installer (Lee) made sure all rubbish was collected and nothing left behind.
The after sales customer service has been impressive. I have contact the customer service team a couple of times to help with the app and issues were dealt with straight away.

Cost competitive purchase - Tesla Powerwall 2
A competitive quote sealed the deal and the Tesla Powerwall 2 was fitted within a fortnight.Tradesmen were polite and efficient and the battery was fitted to an existing Powerwall 2.
I am however, still waiting for a power usage analysis and guidance with changing to a wholesale supplier, such as Amber, or leaving the current power arrangement in place. This service was offered in the quote.

There was a problem with positioning one-half of the installation, they explained why it was not possible to install the system on the west-facing roof. So that it was fitted on the east-facing surface.

Efficient and on time installation
We received the quote from each of the three installation companies within a few days of SolatQuotes recommendation. The quotes were followed by sire visits, the representatives sent by the solar company were polite, explaining their designs clearly and professionally. We ended up in choosing the company in the middle of the range quote. On the agreed installation day, the crew arrived on time, explained what they intended to do and tidied up after they have completed the installation. The installation company did all the paperwork. they organised the grid connection, notified the power company and the energy retailer.The installation was completed last Wednesday and I eventually learned how to monitor the electricity production today with the help of customer service.

Installer didn't know how to cope with a vaulted ceiling
The service and decision-making process was top-notch.The grid connection and internet setup for remote monitoring was all quick and easy.
Unfortunately, the installer was not careful when attaching the panels to the roof.
There are at least two pairs of holes that we have found so far where they drilled through the roof and the ceiling inside.
In addition, there is possibly another hole which was successfully drilled into one of the roof beams but is now leaking water into that beam. We need to examine the roof where it was installed and fix the ceiling where they drilled through.
When we contacted the company about this, they told us to fix the problem, then get back to them with the invoice.

Smart energy answers
They are Sydney based and use local contractors.Did a site inspection and confirmed the installation can go ahead as planned.
4 panels were to be placed on a recessed roof facing south. I raised this with their engineer who said it very hard for them to tell the slop of the roof from online satellite images. Agreed to pay an extra 400 to angle the panels up.
Now those 4 panels currently generate the same as a single panel because of shading from the roof border. I’m working with them to get it fixed but it’s something that should have properly been addressed at the site inspection stage.

Solar Panels + Battery
The sales person had sound technical knowledge and did not come across as trying to push a particular product or a used car sales man. The organisation was responses to my plethora or queries and amendments to the quote. The installation took place about 9 days after agreeing to the quote a placing a deposit. The installation team were very professional, quick (but safe) and friendly. The after sales support was great with supporting the set up of the applications and various monitoring devices. Overall a very positive experience and have enjoyed staying almost completely off the grid since the installation.Panel rating: 5/5

Quoting was easy well supported with tools to explain the technology choices and build the quote up with me.Installation team were friendly and efficient and didn't leave until the monitoring was up and running on my mobile.
Grid connection was all arranged and working, the retailer nectr has lagged a bit (> 5 days) to getting the data flowing into their mobile app, but the Solaredge monitoring web and mobile app is giving me all the information I need to manage our home consumption.

Very Good experience with the solar installation
I recently (December 2023) had my solar solution installation done through Smart Energy Answers. I have chosen a 9.24 kW system with HT Smart (HT54-18X 440) panels, Enphase IQ7A Microinverters, and the Tesla Powerwall 2.Starting from the online video consultation for quoting with Taimoor Ahmed till the installation and after service calls, I couldn't be more impressed with the service I received. First and foremost, the consultation process was thorough and informative. I was delighted that I had an electrical engineer as my solar consultant instead of a regular salesperson. Although I have done some research on SolarQuotes and on Google, Taimoor has provided me with additional knowledge and offered me various options for the solar solution with various quotes. I am aware that SEA is the preferred partner for SolarEdge products, but he did not push me too much as I was keen to go with Enphase and Tesla. What I liked about his approach is that he insisted me to further research on various panels, inverters, and batteries. I was a bit skeptical about the panel brand but I did my own research on PVEL panels test results to verify if the solar panels are any good. Finally, Taimoor explained me the Nectr bundle offer and honoured my request to have the in-house installation team for my solar system.
The installation process itself was smooth. John and his installation crew Hernan and Renata were a bunch of good guys and I found John to be a very friendly Greek. The installation was completed without issues and John also assisted me with the apps, power switches and operational basics.
Furthermore, the communication from support and service team was excellent. They kept me informed every step of the way, from scheduling to installation to post-installation follow-up and they also notified me of the Tesla rebate due date.
Since having the solar panels installed, I have seen a significant reduction in my energy bills, and I feel good knowing that I am doing my part to reduce my carbon footprint. In future if there are any issues arise with my system, I will update here how SEA is providing me support services. I understand that people can varied experience from any solar company, but till this date, I am extremely satisfied with the quality of work provided by SEA. I would not hesitate to recommend Smart Energy Answers.

Easy process
Polite and punctual installation. They did however remove my pool heating apparatus which in hindsight was not needed as no solar panels were installed on that part of the roof. Apart from that, the process was professional.
Deposit not returned.
Paid a deposit for a quote on 15th November 2024. I had a change of mind and requested the deposit returned on 18th November 2024 (during cooling off period).After number phone calls I still haven't received my deposit back. They insist I need to be called back for the deposit to be returned. It is now 18th December 2024 and I'm still waiting for someone to get back to me.
I have no regrets about choosing not to go with Smart Energy Answers. My only regret is putting down a deposit with them.
