Easy company to deal with. Professional all the way.
It was only a couple of weeks turn around after signing up. As a single lady, the process couldn’t have been easier. I had shopped around with the cheaper options but I wanted an Australian based company, one that is reliable and had a name people trusted. They were offering a product that was technologically advanced and suited to my area by the coast. The only issue was the set up as I have 3 phase power but they worked with me until it was all set up.

Quality system, Good install, Rubbish connection followup
O'Brien Solar Forster quoted on the best system for our purposes and communication and follow-up was excellent. The install had to be postponed due to personal reasons and this was graciously accommodated. The install was, however, a smooth process with good communication with the team being on time, polite and conscious of taking care of our property.
There was an offer for a $100 refund if full payment was made on the "day of install" but, due to weather conditions, the install took place over two days, one week apart. I was then told that the offer only related to payments made on the "first day of install".
Fortunately we did not pay until full install was completed as communication since payment has been non-existent. All communication since then, particularly regarding connection to the grid, has been totally initiated by ourselves - calling O'Brien Forster, O'Brien head office, Essential Energy, and Origin Energy. Essential Energy has since informed us that approval has been given by them and returned to O'Brien Solar for sign-off
The main hold-up seems to have been caused by O'Brien not applying for approval for the install before the install actually took place - something which is not necessarily unusual but, could easily have been undertaken in the lead-time prior to install.
The result of this has been that we have now had a system installed for 1.5 months with no connection to the grid and thus, a need to pay for all power usage and a loss of revenue from power feed-back to the grid.
We are currently hopeful that a solution to our connection difficulties will be sorted out within the next few days.
Over promise, under communicate
A relatively good sales and quoting process and this was followed by a good installation too. Confusion came when I wanted to add a battery and suddenly we apparently agreed to different systems and now I had to pay for a new hybrid inverter. It became a game of he said you said they said and there was little effort to help me arrive at a solution. The information from O'Brien's is in conflict with other vendors and while I tried to give them more business, their quotes exceeded what other providers had offered. Net outcome - I'm out of pocket thousands because we thought we would do something different. Solar is a complicated space and this business does not make it clearer.
