Original Review on 13-06-2011:
System is yet to be installed but didn't get oversell, in fact I wanted to go to bigger system but rep very concerned about potential shading issues from neighbours house. An onsite inspection and 2 lots of satellite mapping programs left him very concerned about shading; unlike true value solar who would only quote/install from satellite maps.Zen rep very thorough but price increases put them thousands of dollars more expensive and word of mouth made me hesitate..couldn't see what the local council deal with zen was about anyway???Too many unanswered questions.
The solar shop spent a good deal of time going thru best system options but he very keen on thin film panels and down on mono-crystalline panels???
Will update after Mannix installs but with them no pressure, very professional.. every company had a different perspective on the same question..what a minefield; but Finn has been fantastic with links to get an unbiased overview, thank-u so much.
16 months later we asked Jan: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
Am happy not to be paying electricity bills- obviously the amount paid initially hasn't been recovered yet but will see that happen over the next few years. As long as I remain in credit I am Happy!!!24 September 2012
Original Review on 09-09-2011:
Was tossing up to go with Origin (interest free payments) but they were not flexible on price.Mannix did drop their price & offered a $300 discount for payment within 3 days of unit installation. The installers arrived 7am, explained what they were going to do, were polite, didn't leave a mess & did a neat tidy job. No damage to my very old 1950's concrete tiled roof - they did say there may be a chance of some tiles breaking - but they were careful.

ETSA still had the problem on installation of feed in meter.Scheduled for 5th September which is 7 week after system was put in.
They are inconsistent as my mother in Clare had her feed in meter in before the system.

Chose this supplier as their price was competative and had good service from them 10 years ago when they installed our ducted air-conditioning, that is still going as well as the day it was installed. Their trades people do not leave any mess and do a very tidy job.18 months later we asked Rob: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
Have had no problems with our system - accounts have been in credit since installation, even during winter months.11 September 2012

Both were very thorough and similar pricing but the final decision was based on a locally experienced company.

Salesman for SolarSA needs to learn how to handle losing a sale. Criticising other competitors only makes him look unprofessional.

I expected that on full sun direct overhead i should see with north facing pitched tile roof 1500 watts, the best i have seen is 1350 fleetingly.
I don't know wether it is due to components below par or other factors, hence my unanswered phone callls to Mannix Solar.

Very much so. My electric bills are so much lower than I expected for an all-electric house.rnI did have one problem at the very start in that the meter reader did not take the solar system into account and reported "an unknown meter" and I was issued with an estimated bill that horrified me; thankfully the Ombudsman's department is extremely helpful and fair.rn
