A great example of old-fashioned service and quality by a small company
SolarQuotes recommendations were very good, but I contracted a small company, Local Power - recommended by a friend who used them a few years ago - who use their 'smallness' to their advantage:They don't have the margins to go back and forth 'fixing' mistakes, so ensure they have everything sorted before the installation process.
They took considerable time to design the 'best' system to suit my requirements
They did a very comprehensive audit of my roof and aspect (not just using satellite photos)
They have used the same team of installers (sub-contracted) for over 10 years.
A week before the install, I asked for an ‘extra’:
could they throw an ethernet cable (I’d already purchased) from the inverter through the roof to the ceiling above my router. I then intended to later kick a tile and get the cable down to ground level. Instead, the installers dropped the cable down so I could pull it through my wall. A small, but very welcome ‘extra’ bit of service.
Local Power wasn’t the cheapest and it was a tight decision between them and one of SolarQuotes’ recommended suppliers but, when I weighed up all the positives of the quoting process, the recommended equipment, and extra advice, Local Power came out on top.
The pre- and post- sales service has also been impeccable - I had a few queries on changing set-ups, and other matters. All were answered compressively and punctually.
I would not hesitate to recommend Local Power (they've been around since 2007!) to be one of the companies to quote on any new solar installation.

Thank you for the work you put in and for arranging the 3 quotes that I received.All 3 suppliers were in touch and I had difficulty deciding what system and which supplier to go with.
In the end I accepted the offer of Local Power as my son had used them and was very satisfied with their equipment.
This company has provided for on line monitoring of the panels and my usage of power and promises continuing service of the equipment.
Thank you again for your help in this matter.

The REC and Fronius combination as installed by Local Power has worked without any faults or issues thus far this year.

Local Power provided excellent install and customer service. Thanks to solar quotes for providing me with the knowledge to be able to confidently select an installer.8 months later we asked Richard: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
Absolutely. Great generation and no problems to date.

These guys put in the extra time and effort to really understand what our priorities were for installing solar and matching this with our current and future electricity demand (we already have an electric car and soon getting a pool) to design and recommend the optimal system.For us this initial customer service and care and attention to detail was the deciding factor in engaging Local Power. Through multiple phone calls answering our questions and x2 site visit's we felt very comfortable these guys were recommending a solar system for our long term needs, not just a quick sale.
Price was a little higher than some other quotes but we think for the quality and service we got was good value for money. We needed additional work done including a full switchboard replacement, panel risers and an inverter cover and all this was done efficiently and quickly in 1.5 days for 10.5 kW install with panels on 3 separate sections of the roof. Tradies couldn't have been better, on-time with quality and neatness of install great and site was left spotless with bits and pieces of rubbish around like you often get.
After install Local Power emailed/phoned and visited site twice to ensure all monitoring and connection went smoothly. Highly recommend these guys if you live in SE Qld.
