Installer very professional

The installation was completed very quickly, Installer showed me how to read app and operate inverter if required to shut down. Grid connection was fast. after that had to wait for Energy Australia to start measuring Kw to the grid. This required reprogramming of smart meter. Overall quick process, very happy with job.

Informative and easy

I recently purchased a heat pump hot water system and solar panels from Lightning Energy. It was great to be able to go to a showroom and see the products. The sales team were very helpful - knew the products and what would be best for my needs and budget. Installation was done very quickly with everything very straightforward including all the paperwork and rebate application process. Very happy with my set up and can already see my energy bill going down.

Poor Install and got worse

The sales process was very slick, they were able to provide a quick install date, arrange rebates and supply a unit at a competitive price. The electrician that came to do the install was polite, helpful, he did a very good job, it was neat and he tidied up after himself. He spoke respectfully to my wife and was keen to do a good job. The plumber was very different, he started working without telling us he was onsite. The install was not level, which is in breach of warranty and the insulation and fittings he used were old and poorly applied, he cracked the slab the hot water system was on and left the job without checking with us and hoped we would not notice. He came back two more times before the installation was correct. Trying to get customer service from Lighting Energy was difficult, they did not want to know about any problems and it took weeks, lots of txt messages and phone calls to lightning energy to get this sorted out. I would not use them again and would not recommend them to anyone. A true test of a companies' integrity is how they behave when things to go bad, they failed.

Unfortunately, sometimes issues do arise. After your complaint, we attended your site within one business day. I understand there was a minor outstanding issue that required a third visit.

As you can appreciate, there are many people involved in the process, and sometimes not everything can be repaired immediately.

We resolved all issues within two weeks, which we feel is reasonable, but we will aim to reduce this lag time in the future.

Great Experience and Install!

Wow, what a great experience! I chose Lightning Energy for the install purely because they were a little cheaper than the other quotes I received. They also suggested Enphase microinverters as a good option for us and are a gold rated installer of those systems. Every step of the way was so efficient, from the provision of quotes, promptly answering our questions as they arose, right through to install and commissioning - which was all done really quickly! The install team were friendly, on time, knew their stuff and ultimately did a great job. The Lightning admin team organised the grid connection / inspection after install and we were up and running in no time. Have since recommended Lightning to a couple of other friends in the market for Solar - they were great to deal with and are a well oiled machine!

Great system and installation, after sales support non existent, and still have unresolved issues

Pre-sales support was great. Kale spent a lot of time going through my wants and needs, and we landed on a system that I was very happy to proceed with.

The installers were prompt and professional, and did a great job taking down the old panels and putting the new ones in. Battery, inverter and EV charger installation were also nicely done, with a very neat install, and no mess left behind. An issue with the backup circuit was resolved the next day, and the system was great.

One issue I'm having trouble with, was that part of system design was to put optimisers on the north facing panels (as they are subject to shade in the winter). However, once winter came, and the panels started experiencing shade, it was clear that they weren't optimising.

I initially reached out in May, but am still waiting on a resolution. Have needed to engage with SolarQuotes to get Lightning Energy to respond, but things are still moving very slowly.

Will happily update the review once issues are resolved.

Great installation - look great and hopefully works great

Lightning were the quickest to respond and were only one of two that actually contacted us and followed up. Had 31 panels and a Tesla Powerwall 3 installed. The installation took place over 2 days, the team (and there were a few of them) were polite, professional and got the job done with a minimum of fuss. Really have a nothing but praise for the quality of the work. Cleaned up really well and showed me how to use the associated app.

However now the job is done I have system that isn't activated and the admin side is letting them down, I have asked a number of questions with no response re the next steps of which is not clear to me how to have the system activated - it looks good but useless till i can actually use it and there were a few hiccups prior to installation. ( hence the 4 stars) if the admin side is not supporting the fantastic installation side to the same level it does leave a bit of a slight feeling of being abandoned.

fantastic service and no stress installation

Sales and quoting process did not include any excess flair, everything was listed and quoted succinctly easy to understand. Also provided free site inspection one day after request and easily answered any questions.

Installation was done by Caitlin and the job is done professionally. Installation went smoothly, no gotchas or anything unexpected, everything went exactly as described during the quotation process. Caitlin was polite, minimal disturbance, arrived on time and cleaned up the worksites after finish installation.

After installation Caitlin showed me how to operate the battery, Tesla app with patience and clarity. Every step along the way lightning energy team reached out and let me know what's happening and answer any questions I had.

Efficient and professional

The team from Lightning energy were very professional and knowledgeable. From the initial sales contact with Trent, who has also been an installer. Right through to the installation team lead by Ryan who were punctual and did a great panel fit out. They were very helpful with any questions I had. Was good until the install job.

Sales, system sizing and layout Ok. No site inspection, all done by phone, email and photos. From there website and socials I expected there staff to do the job but a sub contractor arrived. He had no materials to mount the Tesla battery, Gateway and Enphase box so scrounged a old piece of pine board from my shed. Cut roughly to uneven lengths and screwed to my steel shed wall rails. They drilled through the roof into the lighting wiring (waited 2 weeks for that to be fixed). The gateway box is so close to the other hardware it is very tricky to open. The bollards ( like most of the job) are unevenly placed. They somehow wired the grounds from the inverters to active and they all had to be replaced (I now have doubts about the longevity of the panels). Had a heat pump hot water installed the same day, plumber finished at 10 am. HWS was not wired and on until 5pm so no hot water that night. Once the system was working (2 weeks after initial install) I was given a quick set up on the Tesla app. The rest I am working out for myself. With a total of around $30k in invoices (before subsidies) I expected better.

My quote included removal of 6 panels and upgrading the switch board.
They adjusted the quote up before it expired which they informed me of, and I accepted the updated quote.
The systen is sheduled to be installed in 10 days.

The system is doing exactly what we planned and hoped for. Only support was needed to reload the app and connect to inverter but worked that out. Happy overall.

Very competitive price, Customer service has been slow to date.

Sales and quoting was done well with Lightening Energy providing a better price for the same system as quoted by competitors.
Installers were quick and professional. Clean up was fair. Some issues with installation were picked up from a 3rd party inspector which I engaged as soon as installation was complete. I am still working with Lightening Energy to get these rectified.
Customer service is a bit slow as we are still working on getting installation issues rectified, and the battery settings took some time for them to adjust. The team is polite and professional, they recognise when some things have slipped through the gaps and I appreciate that. I would still recommend their services.

Fantastic team, rapid and nice installation

friendly and helpful during the design phase. Installation team were very nice and professional. I am very happy with the quality of the install. The only negative point (very small) is that the final installation is slightly different from the design config but I doubt it will affect the final performance at all.

A Delight to Deal With.

After several phone calls and emails with questions, a site visit where they even brought a panel sample to show me, a fourth quote being generated with a variation of options I ultimately chose Lightning Energy for the components they proposed for my house. They even helped me sort out the address incorrectly recorded with the energy wholesaler. Their customer service is fantastic.

Then installation was arranged and I even received a text with an image of all the panels and necessary bits and pieces being gathered up with my name on them. On the days of installation they worked hard ensuring the panels were in alignment. They cleamed up after themselves and left my premises neat and tidy.

Overall good experience

The sales and quoting process was professional and well done with all the necessary facts and information laid out clearly . The installation was done exactly as explained by the sales team with no unexpected problems or issues .
The customer service was very good and all the workers were polite and friendly . The worksite was left clean and tidy . The electrician explained the operation of the inverter at the completion of the work . We waited only 5 days before the inspector came and did the connection . About 2 weeks now since installation and all going well - even with the cloudy conditions in Melbourne .

Fantastic Installer

Lightning Energy are a fantastic installer that i reccommend contacting if you are thinking of getting solar installed.

The sales representative I co-ordinated the install with was fantastic and together we came up with a solar solution that fit into my price range and had the option to expand in the future for the unique existing grid connection that my property has.

The electrical installer that installed the system was very professional. He did an excellent job installing the system. All of the equipment was installed very neatly.

Any issues that I identified post installation, they were able to rectify very quickly without an additonal cost.

Lighting Energy organised everything with our grid connection and it went very smoothly for us. We got regular updates on how everything was progressing regarding the grid connection

Professional attentive supplier, with a great installation team.

Professional and timely response to my quote request. Provided a number of detailed system options, for my review and selection. Once my order was placed, quickly scheduled works, and in fact was able to bring the installation forward, as their schedule allowed.
Particularly impressed with their installation team, who performed beyond expectations on my very challenging site.

Unfortunate

Sales quoting process was good. the sales rep picked up quickly, that i wanted a system of good quality and that could be expanded in the future. Unfortunately he did not visit the site.
The Installation team arrived on time and were very efficient. I was then informed by the electrician that the front row of panels would shade the back row and did i want to cancel the installation or he could drop the front row down and we would end up with a system that was not quite as efficient as predicted.i decided on the spot to go with the lower front row.
The system has been running now for 9 days and i contacted AGL to see what plan would best suit my usage.To my surprise they had no record of a solar system at my address and i should contact my installer which i did yesterday. They said we will get back to me.
I also rang United Energy and was informed that the meter would have to be changed and that there is no Electricity that the system is producing going back into the grid.The spokesman at United energy said the application should have been made when i paid the deposit.
As you can see I am not very happy with the Company..

Here comes the future

The salesperson was efficient, very knowledgeable and helpful. I contracted originally in November and it took until last week 24/25 of January for the team to arrive. They too were friendly and efficient, hardworking despite the heat and the job was done in about 12-14 hours. They left no mess. They set me up with Enphase, but I had deleted a message from Tesla, so I am waiting for a post installation consultant to contact me. Too, I am waiting for a final electrical inspection. I suppose everything is working but I have no way of telling. I am excited to be joining the modern world, but did I jump prematurely? I continue to read about improvements in battery technology etc, but everything is changing.

Great installation

I had to follow up when installation was going to be. The installers did a great job and very helpful even after installation.

Tried twice to get sales to call back about extending batteries, heat pump hot water service and a large system for my factory. Rang and left messages, no one called back so I will go elsewhere.

Smooth process and good setup

Everything went well with minimal chasing up from the quoting to the grid connection and all in between.
It ended up costing a bit more than expected but there were several factors that affected this such as a top spec system (micro-inverters), double storey, multiple roof pitches and tiles. So all in we are very happy with the system and service.

Knowledge + Customer Service = Great Experience

Like many, I’ve spent a lot of time researching solar systems that are suitable for me. I found Lightning Energy to be more a partner on my solar journey, rather than a product provider.
The service consultant I have been assigned is an installer and able to field my queries in real time. Wanting to understand my objective by having solar rather than selling me a product.
I found Lighting Energy’s website to be easy to navigate, and really liked the platform/format they use to provide quotes/system details.

My installation has yet to commence, but my experience thus far has been impressive. This coming from a guy, that at times, is hard to please ?.

My second Tesla battery purchase and installation experience.

Having installed my solar system and Tesla battery previously, I knew they would be very competitive when quoting for the second Tesla battery. Their price was the best by several hundred dollars. This was all done on line and was quick and easy to process.

Speaking to the sales team representative to schedule the installation date was again quick and easy.

The installation team arrived on time and were only to happy to answer my many questions about how they connected the second Tesla battery to the existing one.

The grid connection application was initiated by the installation team. To my surprise I had a phone call from the inspector the next day. He was in my area doing inspections and would like to do mine. So l was turned on to the grid within a day.


With the two batteries we are now using off the grid solar for 100% of our daily energy needs. Any excess power is still being feed back into the grid.

Great installation.

We had a good experience with the sales and installation teams and I am very satisfied with the neatness of the installation, and in how the system is performing now that it’s up and running. There was a slight hiccup with the install that delayed commissioning, but this was diagnosed by their experienced service technician around a week later and then rectified the same day.

Happy with product, install and performance.

Jordan (sales) was outstanding in answering all of our questions. He was quick to reply to email and friendly on the phone.

On our end It took us a long time to sign up to the install of the 6.6kw system and Tesla battery - but once we were ready to go Jordan was able to arrange everything for us.

My only call-out was that I wasn’t able to easily get onto the admin team to get an update - however I was able to call/email Jordan who was able to provide updates - and basically he became my point of contact throughout the process - not sure it was his job, but he made sure everything was sorted and was able to provide details/dates that I was after.

The installation team were friendly, and professional, turned up on time, talked me through the setup - helped me setup all the apps etc, did a great job - and post install the are was left clean and tidy.

When I had a question the following day, I called the office and one of the techs called me back to arrange to come to the property to update something for me.

The system & battery are performing as expected.

I would be very happy to recommend this company for future Solar/battery installs.

Local installer, great work

Living in the Ranges, we needed a system that would not only reduce our power bills but provide power night and day during frequent outages. SolarQuotes provided our details to three companies. Two companies called back within the week, to begin the design process. The third company sent us a robot email to say someone would call soon, we did not hear from them. We sourced two other quotes ourselves, and we had already researched and priced a suitable system online.
The two quotes we sourced ourselves did not really understand the importance of a larger system with microinverters and a battery, instead trying to sell us the products they stocked.
Of the two installers forwarded by SolarQuotes, both listened to our needs and designed a suitable system. Both prices came very close to our researched price. Choosing between the systems came down to overcast day performance. We will still highly recommend the runnerup as well.
LightningEnergy were local to us, understood our specific needs in the Ranges, and were in contact throughout the whole process. They could also fit us in on a shorter timeline. The install team arrived early on the day, worked quickly throughout the build and produced a professionally finished product. The team were polite and friendly, assisted with the app setup, and organised the inspection. The roof panels, new switch panels, and battery all look neat, clean, and professional.

Stress free installation by Lightning Energy

The quote was "lightning" fast and well documented and all my questions prior to deciding were answered by phone.

The installation went extremely smoothly and the female lead electrician was a delight to deal with. We have an attic conversion with little space under the roof which did not provide any difficulties to the installation team.

The grid connection is currently in progress and was initiated by Lightning Energy.

In addition all communication with the head office was courteous and professional.

FYI the setup included 32 Sunpower Performance panels and 32 Enphase microinverters with an Enphase Envoy-S located in an AC box on the east side of the house.

Fantastic installer!! Must use them!

The sales person was CEC accredited and very knowledgeable - Sebastian provided multiple quotes and in a timely fashion, as I wasn't sure what size system I wanted or if I wanted a battery or not. He was not pushy but also great at following up at the agreed time to check on my decision.

Caitlin and team were the installers on the day. They were so punctual, respectful and overall just so great to work with. They left everything clean and in order. Caitlin explained everything after the install so I understood everything.

Lightning Energy tram then submitted all the relevant paperwork in a timely fashion, so I could start using the solar as soon as possible. Great service!

Great installer, really happy with the end result

Trent from Lightning Energy was fantastic to deal with. He was able to make changes to the configuration until I was happy and was always available for questions. On the day of the installation, the team turned up early and were very polite and respectful (both my wife and I work from home). The power was only off for around 30 mins so no hassle on that front. Come end of day I was given a run through of the software and how the system was setup. They had ended up changing the config slightly so as to get the most sun available with my roof. The guys left the outside area very neat and tidy. All in all a great experience.

Best in price and sales follow through.

It’s rare that the cheapest quote has the best pre and post sales service. They kept in touch with me and visited the property, only one of the three companies who quoted. It hasn’t been installed yet so can’t comment yet on that, but it’s scheduled and that’s what matters, it’s happening!
The 23 panels are going on our rental house and the Tesla battery is being added to the 32 panels we installed on our own house in 2019.

Solar Install 20 Kuranda St Langwarrin

Everything went well and the folks from Lightning were easy to deal with, My wife and I are quite happy with the installation only problem is that after four weeks since installation we still are unable to use the system as the inspector has never turned up or got in contact. I have been ringing Lightning, several times and today Molly said she would try and give me a update but still nothing. So right now we have paid for a system that can't be used.
I have been waiting until the system is working before giving this review but after 4 weeks I thought I'd better get it done.

Good quality advice, components and installation

Sales process with Lightning Energy was great (admittedly the other 2 quotes were good too but Lightning clearly won me over) - no pressure selling - and quick turnaround to my many questions. Trent clearly knew what was most important to me and took me through the proposals he'd put together (various system sizes; with/without battery etc).

Installation came through earlier than I'd expected (~2 weeks following quote selection) and the install team also impressed. The result of two days effort looks very tidy and I'm very happy with it. Panel layout/install and the electrical work is excellent. Trent checked in to ensure I was happy with the work and had organised grid connection which occured in the two weeks following without a hitch.
Production has been solid and I've been using the Enphase app for reporting which is quite straightforward.
No issues so far!

Excellent system installed by a knowledgeable and friendly company

The company salesman spent a lot of time answering my questions, before I felt comfortable going ahead with the purchase. This included questions about tilting the panels, single and three phase electricity , future proofing, and system capabilities.

Once I accepted the queue, it was only about 2 weeks before the install occurred. The install team was punctual and it was well communicated.

Everything has been working fine since install, haven't really needed after sales support yet.

Professional installation, great service

Chose Lightning Energy based on their communication, advice, site visit (thanks Jordan) and reviews. Installation was quick & smooth, and the team went out of their way to hide wiring and conduits, making for a very clean install, including battery and EV charger in the garage. Post-install support has been excellent. We had one issue with a faulty microinverter - this was replaced by Lightning very quickly. Everything is working well and we're very happy with the system.

Definitely recommend Lightning Energy to anyone interested in solar.

Solar installation

Sales process/quote very good, as was help/directons in relation to VIC gov solar rebates process.

Installation: started well but very bad Melbourne weather stalled it. Understandable but wasn’t getting timely comms back from company on when it would be completed. That was due to a combination of – the busiest time of year for installs, the bad weather pushing everything back, a very small office crew simply swamped with queries. Lightning Solar has since increased its staffing and can respond in a timely fashion – and this includes Luke, the owner, who is very responsive to feedback and takes the time to contact you to get things resolved.
The installation itself, when restarted, was completed quickly and efficiently. There was an issue for me with the Tesla app/battery, however another senior installer was sent to review the install and was able to resolve that.

I would recommend Lightning Solar for anyone thinking about installing a solar/battery system.
