After finding out we were ripped off on the price, we have just found out the installer did a really dodgy job putting them in. We have had to turn the system off due to fire concerns. The panels weren't earthed, no isolators on the panels and no connectors on the wiring. If you're thinking of using green tiger energy or their other company C2CSolar run away as fast as you can.

Original Review on 16-05-2011:

Customer service is always high on my radar for anything I purchase and these guys proved to be excellent when we needed information and when we arranged the right day for them to be on-site to do the installation. Original ratings

16 months later we asked Les: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"

Yes it has, we are receiving a good incentive payment each quarter and it has helped us control our power spend.

Still too early to say if we would recommend this company to others - I guess we will know in 5 years time! Green Tiger's salesman inspired confidence, and the boss was happy to provide additional answers to questions I asked (from the Clean Energy Council website). After quite a bit of work trying to make some comparisons between companies (too much like comparing apples vs oranges) we were happy with the price offered for the apparent quality of the components of our system. GT use sub-contractors for their installations and they may have done a good job ( I wouldn't know yet, we just have to trust them) but they were not able to provide a hands-on training session with the inverter. GT could have done better with post-installation service (like showing us that the system was paying into the grid ie all their paperwork had been done, ringing to see if we were happy, providing training).

The Rep for Green Tiger was very very good, very patience and was happy to explain everything in detail. This knowledge helped me make a more informed decision.

Was very wary of going ahead with solar after reading all the horror installation stories on the net.

However Green Tiger are highly recommended by me. Great customer service, honest salesman, and system was installed two weeks after signing contract. Also great REC's rate was offered !

Only holdup is still waiting for ACTEW to install the smart meter.

While I asked several companies for quotes, only two actually came, and one of those (CitiSolar) never phoned back when I left messages after the quote was provided - they lost a sale there. Green Tiger office were provided in response to my contact with Finn Peacock and were excellent at responding to my queries, phoned up when they said they would and arrived on time as scheduled. I don't know if I have the 'best' system, but the sales guy appeared to be very knowledgeable and convincing.

My only criticism is that the installer had brand new assistants who, while very pleasant, didn't inspire confidence -though the actual installer seemed very capable. However he did "lose" my paperwork for the installation for two weeks - which I believe may delay the grid connection? Am now waiting for the connection, but it all looks good as far as I can tell. The installer did mention that the inverter the Green Tiger rep suggested (Enasolar GT) was a very good choice.

I received 3 quotes, only 1 from your service, which incidentally is the one I decided to go with. I found two salesmen had only average knowledge of their subject matter, and were unprofessional. I received incorrect information from two of the salesmen, and conflicting information from all three.

Two of the companies have only had an ABN for less than 6 months (according to the ATO website), one of which is only a sole trader, not a company. I was not confident that any of the installers were very professional, but am assured that the installers they employ to do the installation have to be licenced by ACTEW, so hopefully a professional job will be done of the installation.

I thought all three service providers had systems which would be OK, and decided to go with the service providers who had the more honest salesman.
