** We have a new ABN as of July 1st 2023. Toby and Jake started up a new company (Green Line Energy Group Pty Ltd) as co-directors to better reflect our mission to provide trustworthy and honest services for all of our customers in the process of changing their home's power from gas to electric. Our focus will remain on high quality solar as a foundation for going electric and we assure all of our customers past and future, that Green Line Solar hasn't changed in any way.

Green Line Solar was started by Jake and Toby in early 2021 in an attempt to try and gain recognition for the quality, honesty and transparency of the work we do and in the hope of positively impacting the rooftop solar industry in Melbourne. Having sub-contracted as an A grade electrician for numerous businesses over the past 7 years Jake wanted to take control of the entire process rather than just the install. This allows us to be sure of what the customer has been told, promised, and delivered as well as being recognised ourselves for the time and detail we put into each job that we undertook for other businesses. 

Since our establishment we have slowly grown through word of mouth, positive reviews and a consistent attention to customer service and quality. With Green Line Solar you know who you will be dealing with, we never subcontract jobs or take on more work than we can handle inhouse, you will only ever deal with Toby or Jake. 

Based in Heatherton in the SE suburbs we are a Clean Energy Council approved outfit meaning that we are totally committed to honouring the solar code of conduct and providing high quality service to our customers. We cover the entirety of the Melbourne area, Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas.

Excellent Experience and Install

We had a 8kw system installed and the team from Green Line Solar was excellent. Toby came out for a site inspection as this was important to us as we can go through and discuss what we are looking for and ensure we can have an aesthetically installed system which was very important to us. Toby was very patient with us, provide great advice, not pushy and allowed us time to discuss and think through before we reverted to him after quite a long pause to finalise.

Once we gave Toby our "go-ahead", installation went very promptly. Jake his business partner and installer is also amazing, you can tell he does the installation work with a passion, providing you a run down at the start of the job on the install and reconfirm what has been discussed with Toby about the install and what he understands of our needs and preferences. Together, with the apprentice he has helping him on the job, they did an amazing job and they went beyond to ensure we have an aesthetically installed system. They delivered and the team ensured the place was tidy upon completion.

After the install Toby organised all the connection, all done promptly. Their customer service was excellent. You can see they do this for a living with a passion. Now that our solar panels are up and running, we are thrilled with the results. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Green Line Solar to our family and friends or anyone considering installing Solar.

Awesome installer!!

We had an 11kw solar system installed with a 16kw battery which has been fantastic so far. The whole process from start to finish with Toby and Jake felt effortless, professional and simple. From Toby’s knowledge and advice to Jake’s attention to detail during the install. They both were always happy to answer any questions. Grid connection went ahead with very little input needed from me. If you want an honest team that deliver, Toby and Jake from GREENLINE Solar are your best pick.

Trouble free installation

Green Line Solar is an excellent solar installation company to deal with. They listen to what you aim to achieve and promptly provide a quotation listing a few options for you to consider which is followed up with a phone call giving you with the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the best option for you. I found the installer to be punctual and polite. At completion of the installation, I was shown how I could monitor solar production and usage via an app and further details regarding this was emailed to me. Green Line Solar handle all of the paperwork to organise connection to the grid after installation making the process trouble free and seamless.

Over and Above

Loved everything about dealing with Green Line Solar. During the initial contact and quote, Toby took the time to come to us and understand our situation and suggest an approach that would best suit us (didn’t try to upsell us into something we didn’t need). Toby was also extremely helpful with information and suggestions leading up to the install.
We needed some minor electrical work done on our switchboard prior to install (to enable the features we wanted) and Toby and Jake were excellent in allowing us to have that done through our regular electrician, speaking to them and working with them to have everything ready for install day.

Jake and the install team were elite.
Punctual, friendly, professional, neat, tidy, and they cared about their work-went over and above in making sure the system looked awesome. This was important for us as one of the strings of panels was on the ‘front’ of the house.

The install was also impressively quick, with panels installed and producing power for our home on the same day. We also had a Hot Water Heat Pump installed on the same day which was great to just have the one day of disruption, and great to have it all organised through the one supplier.

Post install, the team spent time taking us through the system, how to control/monitor it and, again, went above and beyond with their customer service, helping to me source some additional roof tiles (expected a few would break and didn’t have any spares-yay for having ‘unique’ tiles!

Overall, Green Line Solar went above and beyond several times and my praise for them couldn’t be any higher.

Knowledgeable and helpful installer

I highly recommend the team at Green Line Solar. They installed an 11.88kW system on our home as part of recent renovations. Toby really helped us achieve our goal of maximising the size of the system given the limitations imposed by our roof space, in particular balancing the efficiency of the system through use of MPPTs in a way that other solar companies did not consider or seem interested in delving into. Additionally they identified and notified us that the system was powered off when separate electricians had forgotten to turn the inverters back on after they’d completed separate work post install. I really appreciate the attention to detail and friendly and open communication, with Toby explaining the particular merits of different proposals and answering any questions I had.

Great Installation

Green Line Solar were the only Installers to visit the site - this was a major reason for finally choosing them. I was able to meet the staff & ask relevant questions. A Good Experience

I set up an appointment with Toby for a quote which occurred within a couple of days. He visited the site & I had my initial detailed quotes of a variety of systems the next day.

Upon acceptance of the final quote, a date for installation was agreed, which was about six weeks after acceptance, & I was contacted a couple of days before that date to confirm all was OK.

Installation was carried out quickly & efficiently.

Toby assisted in setting me up on the Fronius app to monitor the system

All the paperwork for STCs & rebates was handled by Green Line apart from my initial application for the state govt rebate which I had to do in my own name.

Green Line has sent the required notifications to my retailer & supplier.

All in all a smooth & competent exercise.

A wonderful experience and a good deal

Just completed all formalities with respect to my Solar PV installation, with the confirmation from the energy retailer that I will see details my electricity usage, grid feed-ins etc in my next bill. The installation was brought to fruition with the kind help of Toby and Jake of Green Line Solar - a very satisfying experience. Satisfying because everything was so seamless and the knowledge that you are dealing with professionals as opposed to cowboys who are all over the place these days. The design process with Toby was good, with my installation ending up as a 10.56 kW system, as opposed to the average 6.6kW system for a small household - the benefits of which I am seeing already. Price wise I think it was cost effective -not cheap- although Toby insists that I got a very good deal!! The project concluded with Jake doing the installation, personally by him - no subcontractors, the provision of all documentation, and follow up with the energy distributor and the retailer. The only warning I have is that they have become very busy, and therefore to plan ahead and watch out as the lag time for the installation may take a few weeks extra from the time the quote is agreed; otherwise a very good experience.

Fantastic Solar Installer

Toby did a great presentation and quotation for us. He is always polite and respectful even when handling basic questions from us. He suggested the solar system requirements for us the way he believed we would need and was quick and diligent with alternative systems or configurations following our curiosities.

Toby was very patient with us and allowed us time to discuss ourselves and think through before we reverted to him after quite a pause. He remembered our requirements and even suggested he get his installation supervisor to visit our place including looking above our ceiling to analyse any savings before finalising our quote.

Once we gave Toby our "go-ahead", installation went very promptly and in my opinion professionally, installers were very respectful and tidy. Jake, the installation supervisor helped us set up the inverter monitoring app on our phone and guided us on the usage.

After the installation, Toby got in touch and asked us for feedback on installation, and helped set up grid connections without our prompting.

Streamlined process every step of the way

We had a fantastic experience with Green Line Solar from the very first phonecall right through to after installation. Toby spent so much time chatting through our options with me and came across so genuine in his interest and desire to do the best for us in good quality Solar without blowing the budget. Toby was so full of helpful info and never patronising. Very personable and went above and beyond to do a site inspection when we weren’t even 100% sure when we’d commit. We had shading issues and I believe these guys did a thorough design with shade analysis for us. I had absolutely no hesitation in going with them. They were open to discussion about cheaper brands if our budget needed but were so thorough in explaining rationale around why we’d benefit from paying slightly more. Once signed up, the paperwork process was seamless. We barely had to do anything. The gvmt subsidy stuff went through so quick. For the installation, Jake and the guys were very professional, on time, tidy and efficient. Paperwork easy. Electrician check done the next day! And final paperwork for energy retailer done the day after. Very caring, small scale team who genuinely care.

Green Line Solar were great installers. Our roof was quite challenging due to it's design but they managed to get it all done in under 2 days. Service was really good, I felt that they were very honest about what would work best and provided us with very accurate estimates for the power we would be able to produce. Excellent experience working with Toby and Jake

I contacted Green Line Solar because they were rated highly by Solarquotes (https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/top-melbourne-solar-installers-2023/ ) and Top 10 Solar Companies (https://www.top10solarcompanies.com.au/melbourne ). They were one of 7 companies I contacted. Similar to other solar companies, Toby gave us an initial quote based on the size of our roof, but said he would need to visit our house to look at the roof, before he would finalise the quote. Toby was the only installer who came out and looked at our roof before the quote. As a result of looking at the roof, he said the job would take longer because the tiles were flat. He factored this added time into a revised quote.

This visit to our home let us talk to Toby for a while. Talking face-to-face to Toby instead of dealing with salesmen over the phone, I gained confidence in the company I would be using. He mentioned that Jake (partner) and he believe that their mission statement is to ensure there are no ‘winners’ or ‘losers’, but that everyone knows what they are buying and pays the appropriate amount for a quality install, reliability and support long term. His quote was competitive with all the quotes I received, even before adding in the cost of a second day. Other companies had a caveat in their proposal that the added work to grind the tiles were included in their price. Since you don’t get something for nothing, I was Impressed with Toby’s being up front about the cost of the project.

Jake and his team did a great job installing the panels. In addition to installing the panels and inverter, they did little things that made us feel even more comfortable about the people we chose for the job: Examples of going the extra mile were to make sure the inverter on the west side of the house was protected from the sun; and to move to TV antenna to avoid bird droppings on panels.

The bottom line is I highly recommend doing business with Green Line Solar.

Professional and down to earth

Toby was fantastic to deal with throughout the whole process. Once contacted, and he had a handle on our requirements, a range of high-quality quotes were provided. We discussed the factors and settled on a solid mix of hardware. Toby then made a site-visit to check the actual roof and inverter locations. This was a definite point of difference from our previous experiences, where the quotes were all based on satellite imagery for planning. Jake and his apprentices came out the next week and, over two days, did a great job with the installation of 10 panels on tilts and 10 panels on our Colourbond roof. The conduit and cabling were all neatly laid and well-sealed for a neat appearance. Toby and Jake were both extremely professional, and Prashant completed the final step of the electrical inspection, which got us onto the grid efficiently. Overall, what can be an overwhelming and daunting process was made so easy.

Greenline responded to my online request very quickly, the quote was supplied quickly and most important, accurately. No surprises.
The installation was on time, efficient (quicker than estimated) and the guys left our property clean and tidy. I was very impressed with how neat the actual install is finished. It wasn't the easiest access.

Amazing service, communication and attention to detail, highly recommend!

Firstly, our job wasn't your standard run of the mill install - we already had a 10kw solar system installed on our roof a number of years ago by another provider, and due to recent house extensions we wanted to add an additional 10kw system to a new roof, and combine the systems. This involved upgrading our supply from single phase to three phase, and to further complicate it we also needed our existing panels temporarily removed off our tile roof, allowing us to re-roof it to colourbond as part of our rennovations, and then have it re-instated!

Toby and his team were amazing to deal with. They really cared about the entire end to end process, took the time to understand what we were aiming to achieve, and weren't rushing us in and out like other might have. Our job was complex and needed coordination and communication over several months, and these guys exceeded my expectations. They always respond to emails and texts and nothing is too big of a problem to overcome. They think outside the box and offer up solutions, and when it comes to the quality of the install they are perfectionists!

When it came to re-instating the old panels on our new colourbond roof, we chose to slightly relocated them to a much more aesthetically pleasing location and everything is now perfectly lined up. And, our new roof is a flat roof which means you mostly can't see the new panels that were added but that didn't stop them from measuring and lining everything up to centimetre accuracy anyway!

I'm definitely recommending these guys to everyone I speak to. Thanks again Green Line Solar!

Great Installation

We had a very good experience with Green Line Solar. Toby was very professional, friendly & patient to answer all questions and wait till we decided without many follow-ups. Toby visited our home and provided the accurate quote. Once accepted, scheduling was quick as they could squeeze in our installation sooner than later. Jake & team were so professional and quickly completed the installation (Thanks to Melbourne weather ;) ). Installation was done professionally and it was very neatly done. Inspector also praised the way the installation is done. Very happy with Green Line Solar and they lived upto our expectations.

Highly Recommended Solar Company

I got put onto Green Line Solar from a reference from a friend who used them,
The quoting phase was seamless, and they offer up a variety of selections for our home usage and to future proof the property.
Install was just as easy, they looked after everything, and the workmanship (conduit runs and solar layout) was extremely neat.
They organised the CES and connection to the grid straight away so we started to save $ asap.

Easy to deal with and no pressure.

The guys at Green Line Solar were fantastic to deal with.
Regarding the sales and quoting process, Toby was realistic, polite, and non-pushy. Gave us plenty of time and space to review and think about the quotes we received. Quotes were also easy to read and more importantly, thorough.

The installation by Jake and his apprentices was very smooth, pleasant, polite, and tidy as well. The finished product was very pleasing and symmetrical to look at as well. We were very pleased with the outcome of the install, despite having lots of warning labels and stickers all over the place due to regulations (which could not be avoided). We went with the battery and solar option, which had to be done over 2x days, but both days were very pleasant.

In terms of customer service, Toby helped come back to tidy up a couple of things and added some additional labels which the inspector requested. So not the touch-and-go kind of company, which was good to know.

Happy with service throughout the process

Toby was the only installer who came out and looked at our roof before the quote. Others quoted based on Google Earth photos of the house. He answered all of our. questions and we were kept informed of what to expect next during the whole process. Installation went as expected. Happy with Green Line and would recommend!

Excellent service

From the very start Toby patiently worked to design a system that fiitted our requirements due to a very complex situation that took a while to resolve.

The install wasn't an easy one and the ingenious solution to put the inverters under our unit was much appreciated.

Toby, Jake and crew explained the process, and completed the job in a tidy and efficient manner.

The grid connection was staightforward, as was set up of the solar app.

Will happily use their services again

Very happy with the whole quote and installation process with Green Line.
Toby is an excellent communicator, takes all calls, really listens and clearly explains the products and options.
On installation day Jake talked through the process and ensured the inverter was positioned in an ideal spot.

I had received cheaper quotes from 3 other installers but decided to go with Green Line because I could talk directly with the owners, they do not sub-contract out the installation, and they had great reviews on Solar Quotes. Now I know why.

When my system needs expanding/upgrading I will certainly engage them to do the work.

Wow, what a great experience!

We have just had a 6.6KW Jinko solar system and Tesla Powerwall battery installed by the boys from Green Line Solar.

The whole process was super easy and efficient from the initial quoting and installation advice provided by Toby right through to system installation and commissioning by Jake and his team.

They did everything they promised to do, always turned up on time and completed our entire installation within two days.

Jake took the time to explain the installation process and the final job looks terrific. The boys also left no mess for us to clean up.

Their pricing was also very competitive compared to other solar quotes that we obtained.

Fantastic team. Quick and fuss-free install

Toby was very helpful from the get-go, providing sane advice on options and not going for the 'top of the line' configuration with a full battery set up that some of the other installers recommended. Fantastic company to deal with from start to finish.

I obtained quotes from over 10 companies before thankfully finding Green Line Solar. Toby was great to deal with from the start, answering all of my questions and insisting on a site visit before finalising any quote. Toby provided us with 3 different options and didn’t pressure us into a sale or to use a particular product. Toby’s expertise and professionalism was evident in the design of our system which maximised our roof space and his communication was always timely.

I wanted a company that completed the installation in house and Jake, TJ and Ethan did a great job. The guys took great pride in the work they did and were all friendly, polite and punctual. They tidied up at the end of each day and went the extra mile to ensure we were happy with the installation.

Toby followed up after the installation to ensure the system was operating efficiently and to finalise the paperwork with the distributor. It was so pleasing that the guys were accountable for every step of the process.
