Best installer in Clare valley . . . Is in Gepps Cross

I'm moving to the Clare valley, north of Adelaide and according to the locals, there aren't any local solar installers. I have seen a number of dodgy and non-compliant installs there though and I know of one otherwise reputable company that doesn't do exclusion zones.

So I begged DQ Electrical to do the job. Well, if they are good enough for the owner of "SolarQuotes" to get them to cross to the south side of Adelaide, they should be good enough for me.

I must admit that I prefer to talk to technicians than sales people and once that hurdle was cleared, it was all plain sailing. S****, really nice guy, patient, responsive to all my questions, always called me back but (and they'll both be upset at me saying this) B*******, the technical manager knows all the edge question answers.

One of the reasons for wanting DQ Electrical to do the work is that this is a new build and the only company who would not sub out any of the work and uses only their own staff. DQ were happy to apply for a mains power connection from SAPN, helped me with getting power to the site rather than SAPN's option of power half way up a pole, some 60 metres from the property.

They fitted the meter board, ran conduit and a pull cord under the drive to where the pit will eventually be. Working with the earthworker and plumber, they did the trenched cabling to the new shed, back down to the place for the septic tank, across to where the slab for the house will be. Josh, on his preliminary visit confirmed the roof sizing was correct for the number of panels I wanted and installed the underground conduits out from the shed prior to the concreting. And installed what were going to be 2 spare ones over and above what I thought were the maximum I needed. They will be used for another 2 strings of panels on the house: originally the house wasn't going to have any panels, just the 30 on the shed. I'm so glad that Josh used his initiative and installed those spares.

The solar, inverter and Sungrow battery went in and then the guys moved on to doing the lighting, power, rainwater tank pump and provision for EV charging. They even found other jobs to do whilst I was speaking to Tech Support at Rheem about a supercharged resistive hot water system to gobble up the midday sun. Yup we needed a bigger capacity cable than we thought. Then it was time for the newly installed stink pipe to be trimmed back so it didn't create a shadow on the lowest panels.

All of this work had been scheduled for a later date than it happened because of difficulties with earthworkers and concreters. I am so glad that DQ Electrical were able to source the brand new design of 3 phase, 25kW inverter and also new to market battery stack and reschedule the works for the time the other people came together and that I had flown in to meet builders and see the works.

The works were all completed within a week which amazed me. After a phone call from Josh explaining how to remotely monitor the setup, I was enjoying a Coopers at the airport at 16.30 on midwinter's day and seeing the battery charging up at a good rate 45% to 55% as well as charging up my motorhome: the only load.

By 09.15 local time the next day, the battery had got to 99%, my motorhome batteries were fully charged and there was nothing else to be seen (remotely). I look forward to the eventual connection by SAPN so I can sign up to "LocalVolts" as a power supplier and use the power I'm generating to heat the draughty uninsulated rental in Sydney, whilst selling the surplus on the wholesale energy market. (Thanks to Anthony Bennett for that tip.)

I can't say that I have seen the shed, power, lighting and solar all finished but judging by the professionalism of the crew, it will all be as good as I saw before i left the site. The lads even cut some shelving system panel to size rather than me having to take it back and they brought the rubbish bin in before they left. Josh, you did do that for me didn't you?

All in all, DQ Electrical went above and beyond the call of duty and went that extra mile to deliver a good experience. I look forward to them coming back for the mains hook-up and then for the house sub-board and more panels to catch more of the he morning sun and fully load the inverter.

We have recently had our new solar installed by DQ Electrical Adelaide. They contacted me immediately, as did the other companies, when I submitted my enquiry through Solar Quotes.

Right from the first contact with the Salesperson through to the final commissioning it was an absolute pleasure dealing with them. They were very knowledgeable about the local requirements and energy providers allowing us to specify the best solution for our needs. We put a much larger system on the roof than we may have needed, following Finn's advice and it has been working perfectly and looks great.

The installation Team was a great group of guys who really knew their trade. First class operators.

First choice based on previous experience

When we wanted to add to our current installation, DQ Electrical was our first choice based on our previous experience with them.

We had found them using SolarQuotes installer finder for our initial system install in November 2021.
That was a North facing 6.6kW system with LG panels and a Fronius inverter. Since installation it has run flawlessly and as of this review writing has generated nearly 27 megawatts of power ( 26.98 if you want to be testical) and by my calculations including self consumption and exports has saved us $4487 to the end of April this year. According to the trend line, it should owe us nothing about May 2026 and then it will be “making money”.

When I called Steve Alexander at DQ Electrical and explained that we could only fit a south facing system and I understood that it would be about 30% less output than the North facing system, he confirmed this and soon had a quote for some JA solar panels and the newer 5kW Fronius Primo Gen 24 inverter along with a Fronius smart meter which is required with dual inverters to coordinate output and manage export limiting etc.

Our installation day was trouble free and the guys rolled up at the promised time and made it look easy. My wife was impressed with how smooth and fuss free it was. #Experienced professionals. I came home to nothing except a working solar setup and a heap more information from the smart meter on my Fronius app.
Highly recommended if you want to know what is going on with your solar.

I went with Fronius inverters because they are the best IMHO because they have a fan for cooling so on a hot day your inverter does not derate and cooler electronics means it will live longer. Although they have a 10 year warranty, they should soldier on far longer thanks to their solid engineering. As a bonus, the inverters and smart meter all play nice with each other too and just work. My computer experience rejoices!

Once again thanks to DQ Electrical for doing a solid job and earning their deserved reputation. From Steve who is an experienced installer to the team who did the job, the depth of experience makes it trouble free and the fact that I have taken so much time to do this review shows my appreciation for a company that gets it right.

For gods sake don't bother with the cricketer endorsed ones as the sweetness of low price will be soured by the dubious quality and it well may end up costing more than just going with a good installer first time round because the shoddy has to be removed.

Amazing Service

Firstly, getting the quote with 3 different options was clearly explanatory in every single detail. The type of inverter and solar panels and warranties included.
The fact that DQ Electrical and Solar had been in business for over 10 years and all their installers are in house, so no Subcontractors was a BIG plus for me. If there are any problems, it’s their installers who will rectify any problems.
I was contacted a week before installation to say everything was on track and all was organised with SA Networks.
Installation day was a breeze….. well informed by the installers on every aspect. Even installing an APP on my phone to check the amount of Solar coming into my home and the grid.
When they left you would not know they had been here…… no mess Charlie!
I would certainly recommend this Company for any Solar installations.

Exceptional service

I purchased a 7.77kW system from DQE a couple of years ago and found them to have great customer service. Their quoting process was fantastic and they listened to what I wanted and helped build a system meeting my needs. Post install we had some minor issues with the Fronius inverter and they quickly sent an electrician out to resolve and did a good job resolving it.

Fast forward to this month and we decided to add a battery to the system and chose DQE because of their competitive price and the fantastic experience with our solar system.

They finished installation of the Tesla Powerwall 2 yesterday and the electricians were great at explaining how to use the system and did a good job with the install.

I do recommend DQE to my friends and family and will continue to use them if needed in the future.

Excellent and Expedient Installation

The sales and quoting process was easy, but time consuming, because I had a lot of questions to ask the various companies who quoted me for a new solar system.
The solar installation went very smoothly, and the workmen were all extremely polite, hard working, friendly, positive and motivated. They took my old panels off the roof at no extra charge. They went to great lengths to impart information about my new solar system, for which I was very grateful.
The customer service was excellent. They answered any questions which I asked and were keen to make sure that I was happy and informed.
Josh from D.Q spent at least half an hour showing me how to track the efficiency of my system on my lap top. I am going to find this information to be super helpful as time ticks on, and I appreciate very much his efforts in assisting me to understand the website and the intricate details which are available to me.
I would not hesitate to recommend D.Q. Electrical to anyone else who is thinking of installing a solar system.

Professional service and a quality installation

In the initial phone consultation I was impressed with the level of detail and we were both on the same wavelength with what I was after. The quote was very detailed and used a web based form so I could click on links to get extra details of the various components. Nathan then came on site to walk through the quote and ensure that there would be no surprises during the installation.

There were a couple of rain delays scheduling the installation, but they were well communicated with us and they managed to do the undercover parts of the install on the wettest day and came back a couple of days later to install the panels and commission the system. The installation team were excellent - friendly, and all the work looks great.

They looked after all the connection details and helped set up the monitoring software on my device. It's all working perfectly. Original ratings

1 year on. The system has exceeded expectations. Powering our house plus our EV electricity bill has been in credit. Only once in the middle of winter did the battery not get us through the night.
The only frustrating thing is that during summer the system has the potential to output more than 5kw to the grid but the network will only allow 5kw to be exported - we could be doing more to help the environment!

Great Quotes and Installation

The sale person was really informative and helpful during the initial talk. They answered all my questions and gave me several suggestions regarding my situation. They gave me 3 options varies on quality and price to choose.

The installation was done smoothly and they followed my preference for putting the inverter inside the garage. Although they could not finished all the same day, but that is due to the rain on that day. The installers also guided me how to monitor the solar system.

A Polished Service

From start to finish the service provided by DQ Electrical was Polished and Professional. We opted to install a 6.6kw System (No Battery) and were incredibly satisfied with the service provided = from both an administrative and installation perspective. The pricing aspect of DQ was very competitive in comparison to the other options we considered. We explained our initial budget and Luke worked around it to produce a good quality system to suit our needs.

The initial sales / phone consultation was smooth sailing, Luke was polite, likable and knowledgeable as opposed to your run of the mill salespeople who can come across as fake/pushy. He was understanding of our preferences for the system and gave us with all the tools we needed to make a final decision. As well as this, he was very accommodating with our time restraints and worked with us to come out for a site visit early in the morning. Luke also showed up exactly on time and was very informative and helpful on the day.

The Installers (Caleb & Josh) were also exceptional. They showed up on a Friday morning with a forecast of 39 degrees so big props to them for keeping our schedule and going ahead with the installation. They arrived on time and clearly explained what the plan was for the day. Within 4-5 hours everything was up and running and we are incredibly happy with how everything has turned out.

From the operational / admin perspective I am also very impressed with how the team @ DQ were able to streamline everything and make it extremely accessible. The interactive quotes are a very nice touch and make everything simple to understand. All the contractual / Documentation side of things was done electronically and being able to jump on and provide quick digital signatures made the process flow very nicely.

Overall DQ Electrical's service is a firm 10/10 from me and I would highly encourage anyone interested in Solar installations to consider them.

Faultless experience

The team at DQ gave me a lot of confidence from the initial home inspection through to installation. One of the biggest things that set them apart was they designed my system *after* the initial inspection, not before. I was kept well informed of progress leading up to the installation day, given satisfactory answers to my multiple questions, and the final design suited my situation perfectly. The installation itself was incredibly smooth - the guys were very polite, efficient, made sure to confirm the locations of the panels and inverter before starting, gave me a detailed walkthrough of the system once they'd finished, and made sure to leave everything, if anything, tidier than when they'd arrived. Callum even came out to check everything was operating correctly once my meter had been upgraded.

Very professional service, communication, installation and follow up.

What I can say is that high quality products were used and that time will tell if the quality of my product installed will match their apparent high quality.

Exceptional overall installation from DQ Electrical.
At all times through the sales and quoting process, DQ Electrical were available to answer all my questions and put my mind at ease on any concerns. They clearly communicated the forthcoming installation times which made preparation for the day very smooth. They were also flexible on which day to install that was compatible with our household.

The installation went seamlessly and staff communicated the whole process very well. I understand they were one staff member short for the most part of the installation but it never seemed that way. Josh and his team worked well and this was greatly appreciated considering the very hot weather on the day. We made our facilities available to them so they could remain well hydrated.

Toward the latter end of the day another staff member arrived from another job to assist with completion and we were very pleased with the service on completion of the installation. All functions were fully explained and also what would occur on total blackout. In addition to this they assisted us with they installation and use of the 'app' on our mobile phone so we could track performance.

The system appears to be functioning exceptionally well and after tracking our usage, it has been noted so far that our usage charges should be reduced by at least 90%, possibly more. The service charge however, will always still remain.

Thank you to all staff at DQ Electrical. We were very impressed with the whole process.

Thank you, Finn Peacock and DQ Solar. Seeking 3 recommendations from Finn and then obtaining the quotes was seamless. I didn't know where to start looking for a genuine solar company and quote, as there are a lot of cowboys out there. The quotes came in promptly. Meeting the DQ Solar senior solar sales rep at my home, made up my mind for me. The communication was clear and concise, and the quote was the best price. The two young installers were on time, safety conscious, and professional. A great experience!

I chose DQ Electrical to install a 10.56Kw solar system.
From the initial phone conversation, to the site visit and then installation- they couldn’t have been more obliging, informative and friendly.
The crew of 4 who did the installation were fantastic. They were all friendly, helpful, good humoured and worked so hard on a day that started at 7am and didn’t finish until 5.45pm! (And they were still smiling at the end!!)
When there was a glitch the following day with the consumption monitor connecting to my app, they were onto it right away and came and sorted it out on the same day. (it wasn’t their fault)
The admin staff on the phone were great, super helpful and very efficient.
I highly recommend DQ. At every step they were excellent :)

Very good customer experience

We were recommended to go to DQ Electrical by friends of ours. We told DQ what we were after, and they gave us advice and multiple options on the best system for us.
It was a very easy and informative process.
We decided to get a 10.5kw solar system.
We did look at other companies and DQs pricing was quite competitive.
Once we had booked in a date. They organised for SA Power networks approval and for our energy provider to set up our smart meter.
They kept us informed through every step.
Their installers came and were very professional putting everything together and showing us how it works.
We are looking and getting a battery installed in the next few years and would definitely use DQ again.

Our experience with DQ Electrical was seamless from first contact through to having some questions answered post-install. Nathan was fantastic with providing quotes, explaining the pros and cons of our various options, and doing a site visit to inspect our tiled roof before booking the install – he was quick to respond and helpful throughout. introduced to DQ electrical thru a friend after getting the run around from other businesses and had a seamless operation from quoting to installation
Installers were punctual
This is a new build installation on 2 storeys on slight pitch flat roof so presume the rooftop is as neat and tidy as the inverter and electrical to switchboard. The company will come back and go thru the workings of the system once we move into the home.
The build was slow so installers had to wait a few months which was appreciated
The office staff cannot be faulted as well.

DQ listened to exactly what we were trying to achieve, gave excellent advice on the products and design of the solar and battery system they'd recommend, and had a good on-line quoting system that made the process really easy.

The installation happened earlier than expected, and their team were really friendly and excellent at communicating what they were planning on doing each day of install. They took the time to talk us through the best options for minimising the disturbance to the exterior of our house, and they matched the colour and style of the cable trays. This made the install process as painless as it could have been.

After install they got in touch to make sure that everything was running as expected, and the system has been producing exactly the output we expected from the initial quote.

Great staff and service

After getting 3 quotes I chose DQ electrical. Steve was happy to come and view our home and answer all our questions. The install team arrived on time and Michael talked us through each step and was very patient explaining our options. His team cleaned up afterwards while Michael explained how the system works and showed us how to monitor with the app. I found the office staff polite and helpful. Happy to recommend.

Great service and neat installation

We were referred to DQ through our neighbour. We wanted a company whose installers are employees (not sub contracted). From the quoting process through to installation, it was a seamless install. 3 electricians from DQ worked on our site for 2 whole days. Our job was difficult given the size of the plant and second storey with lots of cabling and tight spaces. The staff were very professional and accomodating with cable layout and on-site questions etc. We could not be happier with the end product. A 13 kw SUNGROW solar system and 16kw SUNGROW battery. Well done DQ on a fantastic installation and system. The systems also included 32 amp cabling provision for an EV fast charger. We would definitely recommend DQ Electrical.

Great job. Great customer service.

Nothing was too much trouble. Nathan attended to every detail and he was always very timely with getting back to us and responding to all the questions we had. We got thermal hot water too which is working like a dream.
Installation is a complex process with coordination between electricity suppliers and installers etc but thankfully that all went according to plan too.
Follow up has been great too.
Really glad we found DQ Electrical and I hope they do well.

The quote at the time was done within my expected time frame. The installation was done with a lot of care. The guys were very careful with everything and were exceptionally clean. They took photos of the roof before the installation and told me about some cracked tiles which I had no idea about. They really went the extra mile in service.

Absolutely fantastic

DQ were brilliant, they took the time to explain the system and answered many questions in the process, that was before sign up!!! Once we signed up they were very helpful in explaining the steps involved before installation. The quoting was great along with the quote was extensive information which we appreciated. The two guys that installed the system were brilliant young guys who were prompt, polite, helpful and very hard workers. They very patiently explained the system and we couldn’t be happier. Professional and quality install second to none

Don was extremely helpful with the whole process from the first quote right up to the install. The installers Josh, Callum, Michael and Cam were extremely professional, tidy and friendly which ticked all the boxes for me. They were also very informative which truely put my mind at ease!
