Glad I went with ASM
just like most people, i did my research. called up multiple companies, etc etc. I did this over the course of 18 months and each time i came close to making a decision something would turn me off and Iâd stop.Enter Yavar and ASM Solar. These guys were an absolute pleasure to deal with. I just wish all trades people were as professional and courteous as there were. For each question that I had, they found an answer and for each issue that i had, they found a solution.
Yes, you can go with the big companies with large advertising costs and "ambassadors" who will provide you with the cheap/generic brands or you can support someone that owns their own business and takes pride in what they do.
My system has only been commissioned for a few days now and even in winter, Iâm seeing the savings comes through.

Get these guys to do your solar installation
We like the idea of supporting local small business, and when that local small business gives you a great deal, awesome service, great communication, follows everything up for you well, and doesn't even ask for any money up front, even better. They discussed our needs, came up with a better solution for our complex roof than anyone else was offering, all at a very good price, were lovely to deal with, installed it really quickly, explained things well, were lovely to deal with all the way through. Origin weren't the easiest to deal with in then getting the connection all sorted, and I contacted them and was told "leave it with me I will follow up with them." Great service. Small company means the same person who is installing the system is the person you are talking to on the phone and following things up with.29 March 2019
From the first phone call these guys were great. I was a bit sceptical at first but they wanted no deposit and asked me to pay on completion of the job. Very helpful service and best quote out of letâs say maybe 20 other quotes I received.Was installed within 3 weeks. The guy I spoke to on the phone was the Electrician who installed it so no middle man. I canât give them enough praise.

Ok system, bad experience trying to get support for issues down the track
I initially chose ASM because they explained to us as well as stated on their website that"Many customers were left stranded with warranty claims as the solar companies they hired didn't support them post-installation. These companies either went out of business or simply neglected their customers once they were paid. We received numerous calls from dissatisfied customers facing issues with their solar systems, unable to reach their original providers. To counter this, we, as installers, decided to step in and offer a solution. Our goal is to protect customers from unscrupulous solar companies and uphold the reputation of the solar industry."
I had my system installed in October 2014, it worked well beside having to replace the inverter once. However in October 2024 I started to get frequent Low Riso errors. Errors after 10 years are to be expected so this did not bother me, I contacted ASM solar by email explaining the issue and asked if I could get someone out to take a look at the system (I was more than happy to pay to have them come out and fix the issue if that was needed, was not expecting them to do anything for free). After a few days they said to send my address which I did. I never heard back from them despite following up again via email.
I then decided to call the number on the website, someone answered and said this isn't something they can help with as they had just started with the company, they gave me a phone number for someone else to call. I then had to call this other number, they answered and I explained the situation, they said it sounds like I need a new system and to text my details, I then never heard back from them.
The customer service was extremely poor, I was doing all the work trying to follow up and calling them and no-one seemed interested in helping me. I would have liked to try and get the error fixed with my original installer but now I am left in the position they said they were trying prevent, back at square one trying to find an alternate installer to help me fix this problem.
