Finn's JET Charge EV Chargers Review & Verdict

Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO

JET Charge is a local company that manufactures their own EV charger right here in Australia. But like most Australian-made electrical products, you’ll pay a premium compared to those manufactured in China. On the plus side, you can expect good support from the firm if it is needed.

ChargeMate

As well as offering residential charging solutions from other manufacturers, JET Charge produces its own - the ChargeMate. This is an all-weather OCPP- compliant charger developed from the ground up in Australia by the company.

It's available in 7kW (single-phase) and 22kW (three-phase) power ratings with options including wall or pedestal mount. It's compatible with connection types including ethernet, Wi-Fi, RFID and Modbus. Optional integrated 4G is also available..

Using the JET Charge Connect App,  the device's charging rates can be adapted to meet requirements, and the unit itself features a LCD screen with live charging status display. It has a "solar aware" option (available at extra cost) where the charge rate changes depending on the amount of electricity being produced by a home's solar power system.

This is an expensive charger - at the upper end of the pricing range of all devices we list on the SolarQuotes EV charger comparison table.

Warranty Info

The ChargeMate is accompanied by a 3-year warranty according to the product's datasheet, but we weren't able to locate a dedicated warranty document on the company's website.
