Company Info

Established in 2018, London-based Hypervolt began producing and selling EV chargers in 2021. In 2024, the firm was named among Deloitte's Fast 50 winners for a second year in a row. Australia has remained a key target market since the company began shipping products, and Hypervolt EV chargers have been available here through official channels since September 2024; although some local installers had been importing directly since the company launched.

Founder and CEO of Hypervolt, Flavian Alexandru said the company would be opening up a presence in Sydney, but it's not clear if that has eventuated yet.

In addition to its hardware, the company invests heavily in software; with around a third of its team being software engineers.

Hypervolt Home 3 Pro

The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is a 7.4kW, 32A single phase charger designed and manufactured in the UK. It has an IP66 rating, which is good for outdoors. What's not so good (for Australia anyway) is its temperature rating, which is just 40 degrees.

The Home 3 Pro offers multiple charging modes - Boost, Eco (Solar & Grid), Super Eco (Solar Only).

There's also a choice of device faceplate colours; Ultra White, Ultra Black and Space Grey - and using advanced UV resistant polycarbonate compounds, they should keep their colour for the long run. Multi-colour LED’s around the sides and the logo on the front of the enclosure indicate charging status. Its dimensions are (mm): 328 (H) x 243 (W) x 101(D).

The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is only available tethered for now, with cable choices of 5m, 7.5m and 10m.

Connectivity is via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Full control of the Home 3 Pro is via the Hypervolt app.

Warranty Information

The standard limited warranty for Hypervolt products is three (3) years from the installation date. The warranty is voided if a charger is purchased from an unauthorised Hypervolt reseller. The standard warranty can be extended to 5 years for an extra cost - £100 (around AUD $200), and that must occur within 30 days of purchase.

Have had a few teething issues with it. The installers had to come back as it was exceeding the input voltage allowance - though this was probably due to interaction with the solar system rather than the unit itself. It looks great and seems to charge efficiently, though I've only used it a few times so far. The app is ok but could be more user friendly and more intuitive.
Overall happy with the charger and its associated app so far. Only complaint is that the app's scheduled charging functionality does not work as intended. Specifically, no matter which time zone you select the schedule seems to only operate based on the UK time zone setting (UTC daylight saving at the moment).
Easy to operate.
Good service
Installed on time and 'adopted' by the installer Expert Electrical with no issues. I didn't need to use the charger until months later upon delivery of a Tesla. I attempted to 'adopt' the Hypervolt Home - 2.0 which stalled. I called Hypervolt Australian finding their number online which refused to lend support stating that the charger's serial number was not supplied by them making it ineligible. The installer, Expert Electrical, were quick to send out a technician to assist but he couldn't rectify, and upon leaving said he would make further inquiries and get back to me. Meanwhile I had emailed the UK home office of Hypervolt outling the issue whereupon their reply informed me that the installer's email address was logged with Hypervolt causing my mobile's inability to 'adopt'. After Hypervolt removed the address, I could finally adopt the charger to my phone.

As of today, 24 Feb 24, the charger will not charge the car. I have sent another email the the UK stating:

"I'm happy to say that I have, with your help, adopted the app to the charger, but I notice that the app's home screen doesn't display the 'locked or unlocked' screen selection to the right of the 'Plug and Charge' icons. It's blacked out.

The charger displays 'blue' as it should, but when plugged into the tesla, 'blue' is replaced with a slow flashing 'white' and stops charging after about 30 secs. This short charge can only be achieved after turning the charger's fuse box switch off and on again.

I managed to select 'boost' which I believ bypasses solar if necessary and even disconnected the solar in the fuse box which didn't help. At least it's adopted and connected to my local wifi OK.

I've run out of ideas."

I hope they get back to me soon. 24 Feb 2024
