It’s A Long Way To The Top

In a highly competitive industry, there are numerous things that a solar company needs to excel in to stay ahead. The following words were stand-outs summed up by reviewers giving their thoughts:

“Responsive, helpful, reasonably priced, professional, flexibility, good communication, went the extra mile, excellent advice, sensible solution, different options, friendly, diligent.”

Reviews

The following categories are rated out of 5 stars – Value For Money, Quality Of System, Installation, and Customer Service, along with a paragraph or two detailing their experience. Here are some reviews of the top 5 Canberra companies in this survey:

Sunstak review by Berceuse:

“I reviewed all of the companies on the ACT Government approved list for a solar battery to add to my existing solar panel system. I sought quotes from the 6 best-rated companies. From the 4 quotes I received, I chose SunStak. The main reason I chose them was that they were the most responsive, helpful, and reasonably priced, a couple of the others didn’t even visit the house before quoting. The staff were fantastic and professional, I couldn’t fault the installers, they did a great job.”

ECG Electrical review by Kristian:

“I got a lot of value through the SolarQuotes site in building my understanding of what I wanted out of a solar system, comparing options, and getting information on installers. ECG worked with me during the quoting process to refine the solution based on my questions and feedback. They showed flexibility when parts were not available by offering different options at no cost. The install team had good communication and did a thorough job in the expected time. The system has been operating without issue for four months.”

Fased Solar review by Ross

“Frank and the crew from Fased went the extra mile with my solar installation. A more complex job than most as we were adding panels to existing panels on the roof, and the difficult roof line meant 5 separate arrays. Frank even cleaned up a messy wiring job left by the previous installers because he said he couldn’t leave it like it was. Thanks to Frank and his team, our panels are generating nicely. From the start, Fased provided excellent advice and provided a sensible solution to a difficult job.”

Huglo Solar review by Annaleisa:

“The initial purchasing/sales process was very simple and clear. I found it easy to make the choices from what Huglo offered. The communication leading up to the installation was impeccable, and the installation day was smooth and seamless. Now I enjoy checking the iSolarCloud app daily to track our household consumption and feed-in quantities.”

Stag Electrical Solar and Refrigeration review by Robert:

“The sales/quoting experience was responsive and professional. The installation, which was relatively complex across several roof surfaces, was carried out very professionally over two days. The installers were friendly, diligent, and happy to explain each stage of the process. They cleaned up the site upon completion and were helpful in assisting with grid connection and explaining the next steps.”

Thoughts From A Top 5 Installer

Fased Solar is a locally owned and operated company that made the top 5 for Canberra this time around. I asked the owner, Frank, a few curly questions – “What’s your role in the business”, “How big is your company”, and “Does the size of a company make any difference to quality control?”

“I’m the owner, a qualified electrician, and everything from janitor to CEO! We’re a company of about 12 employees with a shopfront, office, and warehouse. Everything is done in-house, with no sub-contractors. The size of a company definitely makes a difference in quality control. We don’t have a view of getting too big because it then becomes difficult to maintain that level of quality.”

“Do you actively try to be the best company out there or is it just business as usual?”

“I’ve been an electrician for a long time, and when we got into solar I made the decision that we were only going to sell quality stuff and do quality installs. For me, it’s business as usual in the sense that I’ve always taken pride in my work, and do everything at the highest level. Fortunately, my staff are a good bunch of people that understand that and they maintain that high level.”

Bottom Rated Canberra Solar Installers

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – we don’t like solar cowboys. This is a solar cowboy-free zone. We’re not naming names here; however, if you’re looking for that, you’ll find them in our installer reviews database. This might be a good place to start if you’re new to solar and want to research any companies you’ve come across.

For Balance – More Ratings

Let’s revisit the ratings of the top 5 Canberra solar companies, this time including their scores from SolarQuotes and Google. It’s worth noting that in this instance, SolarQuotes only considers reviews from the last three years, while Google displays ratings from all time.

In addition, SolarQuotes evaluates companies based on four categories – Value for Money, Quality of System, Installation, and Customer Service – and then computes an average score. Google simply asks reviewers to provide a 5-star rating.
