It’s no secret that a rooftop solar power system will likely perform better over its lifetime if installed by a reputable installer. So how do you find a reputable solar installer? By reading reviews and ratings, or better still – letting someone else do the leg work.
SolarQuotes readers have been submitting reviews on everything solar since 2009. At the time of writing, there are close to 70,000 reviews, just on solar installers! Reading every one would be a colossal undertaking, so we’ve collated the latest results to give you the current top 5 in each Australian state, as rated by their customers.
Methodology
The outcome of the most recent survey was determined by looking at companies with at least fifteen reviews in the last three years and finding those with the highest average scores.
It is important to note that the results are based on customer reviews1 of any solar company reviewed on SQ, not just those in the SolarQuotes network.
Let’s start with Perth.

How Do You Make The Top 5?
Many factors separate a well-performing company from an average one. The obvious ones are customer service, professionalism, communication, quality of work, quality of products, and reputation.
All the above are mentioned by reviewers of these Perth installers; with a common theme being companies going above and beyond, by doing things such as pre-install site inspections, accommodating customers’ preferred layouts, and being friendly, efficient, and easy to deal with.
Reviews
Reviewers are asked to give details and a description of their installation, and rate the following categories out of 5 stars:
- Value For Money
- Quality Of System
- Installation
- Customer Service
Here are some customer reviews the top 5 results for Perth were based on.
Positive Energy Solutions Pty Ltd review by Peter:
“We have an unusual roof layout so one of my requirements was to actually come to the house to see it. They came out and actually brought one of their installers with them. Very good start. The price was competitive with others that were quoted. Multiple options provided. Bit of back and forth about what will work and so forth but overall the process was simple, we had to do very little.”
Lite Force Pty Ltd review by Christine:
“Met with the owner of Lite Force. He was very informative and offered quality products. Explained future battery attachment and home EV charging if required in the future. Installation went smoothly with installers arriving promptly and cleaning up all mess before they left.”
JFK Electrical Solar and Air review by Darren:
“Once I made my decision to go with JFK the process to have the installation carried out was pretty fast and effortless. On the day of the install, the team was in and out within half a day and were polite at all times when here. The senior Tech seemed right up to speed with the system being installed and was able to answer any questions I threw at him straight away.”
SEM Solar review by Dan:
“Perfection, the knowledge skill, and experience shows Lloyd and his team know their stuff, everything was handled, install was quick and clean the process after was clear and easy. Highly recommend SEM Solar if you are looking to get solar in WA. Best experience with a trade I’ve ever had.”
eSolar review by Wim:
“We received excellent service during quoting/sales, installation, and service process including organising grid connection. All requests were promptly followed up, Customer service was excellent, very helpful, and efficient. Very happy with our system which has saved us in six months $1003.”
Perth Installer’s Comment
I chatted with Daniel, the sales and operations manager from Positive Energy Solutions Pty Ltd, and asked him how he’s made the top 5. I asked if he has made a conscious effort or is just lucky to have a good team around him?
“We haven’t grown too fast too quickly. We’ve hand-picked every single person we’d recruited into the company. Every single internal process is documented and understood across the entire team. We’re incredibly selective regarding installers. We’ll continue to attend to every single customer’s property until the system is installed as per contract.
We’re in for the long haul and want to be the premium option offering top-quality installs and we need to deliver on that. We’re never going to be a high-volume company, it doesn’t work for us. We want to be the leading company in Perth, selling the best systems and top-quality equipment.”
Bottom Rated Perth Solar Installers?
In this series, we were originally going to publish the bottom 5 solar companies in each Australian capital city according to ratings on the SolarQuotes website. But we decided to keep these posts positive.
You, dear readers, are welcome to dig deeper using our installer reviews database. Check out any companies you may be considering or have heard about.
Here’s a quick guide to evaluating solar installers by their star ratings:
- If the installer has any 1,2, or 3-star reviews – read them and look for patterns. Every company will drop the ball occasionally. What matters is how they make things right after things go wrong.
- Click ‘View Timeline’ to see if they have improved over time – or not.
- Click on ‘Australia Wide Ranking’ to put their score in context. For example, on the surface, an average score of 4.3 might sound quite good. But it is in the bottom 30% of all installers reviewed on SolarQuotes who have at least 25 ratings:
Always Check Multiple Reviews Sites
One problem with online reviews is some companies may game certain sites. If successful, they can have a respectable looking score on one site – which they use for marketing – and a terrible score on other sites.
At SolarQuotes, we have processes and verifications in place to make ‘gaming’ of reviews very hard. But we still always recommend looking at multiple review sites to see if the scores are consistent – within about 0.2 stars is a reasonable margin2.
So, taking our own advice, all the Perth installers above are shown again below, with ratings from SolarQuotes, Google and ProductReview. Note that this survey considers SolarQuotes reviews from only the last three years, whereas Google and ProductReview show all-time ratings.
Also, SolarQuotes asks reviewers to give ratings out of 5 stars in 4 categories – Value For Money, Quality Of System, Installation, and Customer Service. We then average them. All Product Review and Google reviews below only ask for a simple 1 to 5-star rating by reviewers.
Positive Energy Solutions Pty Ltd
