Finn's Zenaji Batteries Review & Verdict
Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO
Zenaji's home battery storage solutions aren't for everyone. They are probably best suited to energy nerds that love to tinker with different technologies. The Zenaji Aeon and Endless are the only batteries with LTO chemistry I know of on the Aussie market.
Zenaji claim LTO is the safest lithium battery tech available – but NSW Fires + Rescue reported a fire involving a Zenaji Aeon battery system in 2023.
Zenaji Batteries: Pros & Cons
- Local company
- Long warranty
- New(ish) tech. Remains to be seen how the batteries will perform in the long run.
About Zenaji
Zenaji is an exotic name, but the company behind this rather unique battery storage solution is Australian.

Company Information
Zenaji has its roots back in 2016, when a group of engineers set about designing what they thought would the best battery solution for solar power or wind storage. NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) and, increasingly, LiFEPo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) were the go-to chemistries at the time.
But they settled on LTO (Lithium Titanate), which Zenaji says lasts longer, is safer, can be deep discharged and has better temperature tolerance compared to NMC and LiFePo4. However, there were two drawbacks - energy density and cost. But with continued perseverance and as LTO evolved, progress was made in both those areas and Zenaji brought its first energy storage product to market.
Zenaji Aeon
The Zenaji Aeon is a lithium titanate based battery that the company says offers better lifetime, safety, and value for money than other more commonly used lithium-ion chemistries.
Each Aeon only has 1.93 KWh capacity, but an "unlimited" number of batteries can be installed in parallel. While most home batteries take a "box" type form, the Zenaji Aeon is more like a long triangular cylinder.
With regard to inverter compatibility, Zenaji lists selected models from Victron, SMA, Schneider, Solis, Growatt, Deye, Studer and Sungrow. But the company noted in late 2023 new inverter models from Goodwe and SMA were not supported and will not work with Zenaji Aeon batteries
We took a bit of a closer look at the Aeon in this article back in 2019, and other specifications can be found on the SolarQuotes battery comparison table.
Zenaj Endless
In 2023, Zenaji announced the "Endless" battery, which features all the benefits of the Aeon, plus:
- Parallel Connectivity - Unlimited Batteries connected in parallel @ 48v nominal voltage (LV - Low Voltage)
- Series Connectivity - connect in series to increase voltage for unlimited inverter compatibility - 120v, 175v, 200v, 400v + higher voltages.
The Endless is also in a different, and arguably more stylish, casing.
Warranty details
Zenaji are probably the only company to offer a 20 year warranty (to ≥80% capacity retention) on a home battery as standard - most only offer 10 years. Zenaji claims a life of 22,000 cycles, but the warranty covers whichever comes first.
We'd be curious to hear from any Australian owners of Zenaji Aeon or Endless systems - you can leave a review by clicking the button towards the top of this page.

Another concern I had was the companies relatively small size and their ability to be around in 20 years in order to back up their 20 year warranty. To my pleasant surprise after speaking to the Installation and Zenajis own technicians, not only do they have 2 other products in development to go along with Current Aeon battery but the owners themselves own and still run another niche business called Involved Audio which has been around for over 30 years and is still operating. So with the news of more products in development and proven track record of the ability to successfully operate a niche business, I have the confidence they will still be around to back up their warranty IF required

I expect these batteries will live well beyond their 20 year, 22,000 cycle warranty. Best batteries money can buy!
