Company Info
Eveready was founded in the early 1900's and is jointly responsible for the advent of D-sized dry cell batteries. The company also introduced the AA size battery in 1907, the AAA in 1911 and 9-volt batteries in 1956. Additionally, it brought the first commercial alkaline battery to market in 1957.
After more than a century in the battery game, Eveready turned its attention to the home solar energy storage market.
Eveready Energy Vault
The company's first solar battery is the Energy Vault, which has been available in Australia for a few years. Expandable from 5.1kWh to 20.4kWh, the system is compatible with all inverter brands and is based on LiFePO4 chemistry - widely considered the most stable of all popular lithium-ion types.
The Energy Vault has a 3 kW output, which is a little under-powered, and it's not off-grid capable. Back-up with UPS is an optional feature. It has an operating temperature range of 0°C - 45°C, which could be problematic in some parts of Australia; particularly since it has no active cooling system.
The Energy Vault is accompanied by a web-portal and a mobile app for 24/7 monitoring and control, which also enables remote diagnostics for troubleshooting by the Eveready team should you run into problems.
Warranty Information
Manufactured in China, the Energy Vault has a 7-year product warranty, which is shorter than most other quality brands that offer 10 years.
The warranty also states the battery shall retain sixty percent of usable capacity for ten years from the invoice date, or for a minimum total output energy calculated from the date of commissioning, whichever comes first. The minimum total output energy varies depending on the model, but for the base model (5.12 kWh), it's 14.5 MWh.
