Finn's Eguana Technologies Batteries Review & Verdict
Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO
There wasn’t anything particularly great about Eguana batteries, and it seems the company is to liquidate and fully close its Australian subsidiary. I just hope the firm honours its warranties here. If you’re looking for a residential energy storage solution, check out the home battery brands I recommend.
Eguana Technologies Batteries: Pros & Cons
- Can't handle the heat (45C maximum ambient temperature)
- Australian subsidiary to be liquidated.

Company Info
Established in 1998 and headquartered in Canada, the company has manufacturing facilities in Europe and North America, and also has (had?) a facility in South Australia for assembling some of its solar battery products.
The company certainly had a keen interest in Australia. In March 2023, Eguana announced it had acquired SolarLab - an Adelaide company that provides solar and battery installation services nationally.
But in November 2024, the company confirmed its Australian subsidiary will be fully closed and liquidated. Ongoing customer support will be migrated to the Canadian technical team.
Eguana Home Batteries
Eguana Technologies used to have three battery storage product lines - Enduro, Evolve and Elevate. But as at December 2024, only the Enduro and Evolve are on the company's website.
Eguana Enduro
The Enduro has a measly 4.5kWh capacity and 3kW output. It uses Pylontech lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells. The Enduro measures 539 x 1236 x 231 mm and weighs 96kg, and has an ambient temperature range of -10C to 45C, which could be problematic in some of the hotter parts of Australia. It's not really worth writing much more about this battery given its low capacity and output; plus the fact it isn't listed on the CEC's approved products list and the company is scooting from Australia.
Eguana Evolve
The Evolve has been available in two variants:
- Evolve LFP AU: 14 kWh storage capacity (base model), expandable to 42 kWh. Incorporates Pylontech lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 / LFP) modules.
- Evolve ESS AU: 13 kWh storage capacity (base model), expandable to 39 kWh. Uses LG Chem Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery modules.
While a tried and tested chemistry, NMC has has a shorter cycle life and degrades faster than Lithium Iron Phosphate. Note that some batches of LG's EM048126P3S7 modules have been subject to a recall.
The power output of both variants is 5 kW steady. Both also offer automated backup power with solar charge and black start capability. But again, the ambient temperature range is -10ºC to 45ºC - with the upper end of that scale not high enough to cope with conditions in some parts of Australia.
Warranty Information
Eguana solar batteries are backed by a 10-year product warranty. As for the performance warranty, the company warrants a minimum of 60% of the nominal energy will be maintained during the warranty period for the LFP version. For the ESS, it's the same, with the added condition of 19.2MWh of aggregated energy throughput (whichever comes first); assumed to be for each 6.524 kWh module.
As at late 2024 it's not clear what the warranty arrangements will be when Eguana exits Australia..
If you're an Australian owner of an Eguana solar energy storage product, share your thoughts on it by leaving a rating and review.

This is, without a doubt, the worst product I've ever bought. Just a couple of weeks after installation, the battery carked it. Tried to get help through their service support and make a warranty claim, but no one is answering my calls or emails.
Discharge and charge are hassle free,
The SwitchDin app makes it easy to keep an eye one it.
Best purchase ever :)
